Default When you take your hardtop off....

are there places (grooves, indentions, etc.) left on the black molding that runs around the back of the cabin area. (The molding in which the hardtop sits on.)

Also no! The hardtop has a soft rubber seal that rest on top of this plastic trim. If you are getting indentations, maybe the seal is not in the proper position.

Yes, I have these marks on the molding too. I think I'm going to try and adjust the hardtop forward to see if that helps. I've also been getting some rattling from the front latches that I think adjusting forward would also help.

Okay, I just bought the car (used) & the prior owner didn't know how to use the top. He took it off and never used it. Right now I've got the hardtop on without the little rubber covering/mat that goes over the stowed convertable top. Sorry for the terrible description, but should I change this?

I have a 2002 and I just installed my top. When I took it off the molding on the car had grooves in it from the hardtop. I understand the top has weatherstripping around it but I still have the grooves. It appears the weatherstripping on the top is not matching up perfectly with the molding. I am going to try to re-adjust the top.

Hey, Zam - the hardtop won't even install if you put the boot cover on (if that's what you're talking about). You're doing it correctly - notice the tabs on the hardtop that hold down the soft top? Imagine them pushing down on the boot cover - I think you'd put a permanent crease in the cover if you left it on.
