Default hardtop price

theres a local guy that might want to trade a soft top for a hard top and was wondering what you guys think.

its a tough choice if you ask me... losing the ability to put top down whenever i want. but increase in security with hardtop.

<---Misses having a softtop when raining
<---Likes not having a softtop when racing

The crappy thing about not having a soft top is you can't drive the car top down even if there is a chance of rain that day. And you really can't park it and leave it for long periods of time (if you left your top at home). IMO, it's not worth it unless it's just a weekend cruiser/racer for you, or if you're not top down too often.

So wait....they're willing to trade you a $3K hardtop for a $800-1000max softtop assembly? Hmm....

I would take a look carefully at this "deal". A hardtop/softtop trade is pretty unheard of. If it's truly the case, just do the trade. Who cares if you don't have a softtop right away. You can buy one for cheap later (they're all over the boards here for sale) or sell the hardtop and buy 5 softtops haha.

What hardtop is it? All hardware/wiring included? Definitely shouldn't be a tough choice. New OEM hardtops costs almost $3K. Minty fresh used ones are less than $3K, with some being close to $2K. Aftermarket tops can range anywhere from $700 to $2500 with/without hardware so you have to see what you're really getting in this trade.
