hardtop question
Im very interested in getting a hard top and think im finally going to go with it once im set on a good deal.
what im wondering is how many of you guys remove your soft top assembly and motor. do most people just put the top down and put it over? is losing like 50 pounds worth it(if i get a 20 pound hardtop). also one last question is re-installing the soft top once removed difficult?(for resale purposes)

The OEM hardtop is 44 lbs. Not sure which particular HT you have in mind.
Most people (unless using their S2000 for dedicated track duty) will not take off the softtop and its components.
Hardtop removal or installation is a two-person operation, although I have heard of people that are able to remove it single-handedly or by using a hoist.

^^ Agreed, I was contemplating removing my soft top assembly & motors when I get my Hard Top but then decided to leave it in. My friends all around me that have HT's removed their soft tops and are trying to talk me into removing mine(which almost worked...But I'm not a diehard track head). I might remove it in the future and sell it just to recoup some money for my HT...But for now the soft top assembly & motors stay.
I need an explanation. I don't get the whole "hardtop thing" except for winter driving.
I bought the S2K because I wanted a convertible.
Do you just want the looks or the security?
Enlighten me. Enquiring minds want to know.

It's simple. It's for the people that like everything about the S2K except it being a convertible. Bet if they made a S2K coupe, we would see 50/50 sale of both.

As for the OP, you could remove the motor for the soft top, then leave the soft top in, that way if you do take the HT off, you can just have a manual soft top. I don't think removing the soft top assembly is that easy, either, compared to just removing the motor.
I find it strange that people forget that its only a matter of seconds, and the HT is off, so its the beauty of having it all and getting the best out of the S, whenever takes your mood. I prefer having the soft top as well.
