Hardtop removal???????
I was wondering if there is any way to remove the hardtop with only one person. Is there anything that honda makes????? I need to figure out a way to do this. I dont have a high enough ceiling for a hoist. Someone out there must have an idea. Please help me out.....Thanks in advance Kenny
I sure wouldn't want to try it. The pins that drop down behind the doors look like they'd be deadly on a body panel if you slipped. I've always taken mine off with two people or it stays on. Period.
I know what u are saying but I looking for some sort of hoist that does not have to go on the celing of my garage b/c of the garage door opener is in the way. . I remember seeing a hoist that grabbed both sides of the HT then u lean back and lift.
BTW thoes pins do look like they can do some damage if dropped on the car.
It just sucks b/c I never have someone to help me take the thing off

Glass shops use a special suction cup that holds very heavy glass pieces. I think the things cost about $100 and are about a foot in diameter. I looked into getting one or two of those to pull the hardtop up and then I applied the KISS principle and just ask my wife to help.
If you got some of those professional grade suction cups you could just screw a single pull rope into a beam in the ceiling and haul the thing up.
I wouldn't though.
Here is a link to a pdf file about professional suction cups.

Actually a hoist should work fine for you....check out the links...you can mount it under the opener or you can mount it on a movable platform. Most people hoist it and leave it but you DON'T have to...all you need to do is hoist it up a few inches and drive out from under it... You can then put a rack under it and move it where you want. Basicly short of having two people a hoist is probably the safest option... People have done the same thing(alot of people have garage doors blocking perfect hoist position)
Basicly if you can put your car in your garage you can use a hoist....
