maybe because the hardtop striker is thicker than the original one. so yeah when you first start to use it, it should feel like it hard to get in because it suppose to grab tighter? just a thought.

If have an '05 you already have the 'hardtop' strikers, there should be no difference between the two parts.

I don't have much help beyond that because I have not replaced mine, but know the part numbers between the two.

I have an 04' and had the same rattle problem. The hard top strikers work, just have to stretch the top a bit. I felt the same way about them being really tight, but they are fine.

I had this same issue when I installed my new ones. Apparently they need to "break in" so to say. So try it a couple times. It's just the latches trying to get adjusted to the new strikers. I tried to close it 5 to 10 times before it actually closed properly.

Alright! Thanks guys, actually the strikers aren't the same they are a bit slicker but thicker at the same tikme. Immm going to reinstall them and try to actually close them! First time I tried it felt like I was going to break the latches or the top!

Are you having trouble closing the latches with the soft top or hard top? I just put the ht strikers on my 04 and the hardtop aligned perfectly. They took a little more oomph to close, but could be done by my wife no problem. They are quite a bit different than the strikers that were on my car stock.

I also put shin etsu grease on all seals of the ht and car, and it is now 100% silent when driving, bumps and all.

If you cannot latch the ht front latches easily then you may need to adjust the mounting plates on the back of the ht. Make sure you have the 8mm gap between the top and car as shown in the install instructions from Honda.

You know what I did? I did misspeak - they are different. There are several threads on S2Ki regarding NOT replacing the strikers in '04 + vehicles because the strikers carry a different part number and are better overall. They apparently DO carry different part numbers.

Sorry for the confusion
