Hardtops

On a more serious note, you can find this same thread going back 10 years with different numbers. Unless the cars drop in price and/or there's an actual substitute for an OEM top, or fundamental economics change (deflation), the prices are not coming down and will probably continue going up. I complained when they were $3,500 7 years ago. If you want one, you have to pay the extortion fee for it. All of the aftermarket options seem to have come up short in one way or another.
Allegedly there is a gentleman on here that is trying to get in touch with aftermarket body part manufacturers to see if he can create a run. I believe he mentioned it in the Vaikhari top thread. Something about " really helping S2k owners by providing them truly affordable HTs."
Don't confuse delusional asking prices with actual selling prices -- and few will admit what they paid for their hardtop -- at least not recently.
But sellers willing to wait forever may see their asking price taken. There's always that one guy with money to burn that has gotta turn a roadster into a coupe.

People can keep them. In terms of practicality, they're useless. Looks-wise? Subjective. Nice flex for the gram, though. I know plenty of people who ended up selling their hard top simply because top-down is superior, and there's plenty of other things to invest in for the car that will actually increase your being able to fully enjoy it, not decrease it.
