Hardtops oem at great prices
Just bought mine off on this s2ki web site, from private seller it was a couple of months old, looks new, i put a black on on my sebring silver car, got it for $2300 installed, Im very happy with the price and looks, but when i got home my wife found this new web site with oem tops for $2096.00 i hate to say i wished i would have seen this and got one to match the color of the car, heres a link to the tops for sale https://www.factoryhondaparts.com/partlocat...&subcat3=140591
|
I wouldn't regret your purchase that much. The fixed ground shipping cost is $230 which would put it just over what you spent on the used top. I also searched the site and was not able to find a sebring silver hardtop available. The closest was chicane silver which is VERY dark in comparison to sebring silver. On top of that, there is a chance you may have to deal with the headaches of a damaged hardtop upon arrival. In the end for $2300 installed, I wouldn't look back on your purchase.
|
I don't think it comes with the hardware and you need to add shipping.
|
Dont all oem tops come complete with the mounts, Mounted the top in about 40 minutes, driver side was sitting high, had to remove the 3 shims behind the latch on that side fits great.
|
so whats the point of this thread? you got a top why are you pushing someone elses?
|
After i read the second post im glad i picked mine up and didnt have to ship it, point of thread was good price on hardtop. that all zzzzzzzzzzzippppppppyyyyyy

yeah that is a great price, but most places don't discount them that much, add in shipping and perhaps some taxes (depending on the state) and you still got a good price.
I bought a used black OEM hardtop and put it on my sebring silver, I love the look. My intent was to have the roof painted sebring silver sometime down the road, but the black has really grown on me and I don't think I'll ever paint it. If you tint the hardtop glass and tint the passenger and driver side windows with a black tint it will look great with the black roof, creates a nice effect. My hardtop glass is tinted, I'm getting the door glass tinted to match this spring. The body coloured matched hardtop looks best with the black moulding painted body colour as well and with the front roof windshield tape removed. When you try to remove the windshield tape it can sometimes reveal some defects under the tape and that can be a major pain in the ass. If you don't remove the windshield tape then I'd prefer a black roof to match all of the black trim. So I personally prefer to keep the hardtop black , leave the windshield tape in place, and just tint the glass black. |

Normally you can't get but 50% on used ad ons. |

That's a good deal! I've seen a couple people wanting $3000 for an OEM top, or they will upcharge $3K if their car has a top.
Normally you can't get but 50% on used ad ons. |
I'm kinda sure that this price doesn't include the side latches which are about $500. This would make the total price about the same as HTG when you also consider shipping. Still, another source for acquiring a HT at a good and fair price is always good to know.

It's a exellent price if it includes all the hardware.
|
Great price! Thanks for the link.
The part numbers listed on that site are for the OEM hardtop "kit" which includes hardware...looks like I'll have to buy one from here eventually. |
What's weird is that when I click on zherbo's link, it shows $2096.00. However, when I search for the same part number that it lists on that page, it shows $2,246.25 as the price I'd pay. I can add either one to the cart. The link for searching the part number is here but it looks like it searches through the collision and OEM parts catalog, even with the same accessory part number: https://www.factoryhondaparts.com/oem-Honda-parts.html
I checked out another vendor that also listed the top as $2096.00 but was required to contact them about shipping (which showed up as only $80-something as an estimate), since it's a large item, and the price shot up to $2,7xx. |
I called to verify the price and included hardware if any. They've been busy today will other hardtop questions. They think it's a mistake online, but will follow up.

They only have like 4 colors? FML?
Nvm, theres a 2nd page. FML indeed. |
Just emailed them today also. They are fairly local to me, so I might swing by and talk to them.
|
As soon as someone finds out if these prices are legit, I would like to know ASAP as that is a better price than I can get as an employee at a dealership platform that includes Honda.
|
No Silverstone???!
|
any update
|
You know, you guys can also call/e-mail them as well...
|
Wow if this is true i'll sell my Mugen styel and pick up the OEM one!
|
Talked to them about a stand for my hardtop, decided to make one out of plastic, its a new web site and the price was put up wrong at $2096 it sounded to good to be true and that was the case, per honda they have stopped making the tops, so whats out there is very few, glad i got a like new one for $2300, sorry about this i just wanted to help people get one at a fair price.
|
I emailed asking about some questions, the guy emailed back wanting my shipping address for a quote. Sounds kind of sketchy. Didn't respond to what I had asked at all.

Was told they stopped production on current design, and this part is delayed, maybe where in store for a new s2000 and dont now it.
|
So this thread is about a good hardtop deal that really isn't a good hardtop deal?
|
And by the way, behave yourselves. No pissy fits and name calling. This isn't junior high. Act that way and this place is going down the crapper.

That's the one I was referring to in my previous post. I doubt they will sell it to you for that price. They have a disclaimer saying that you need to contact them for oversized items for the actual shipping cost, which applies to the hardtop. They told me it would be $2,7xx shipped to my door because they apparently need to hire a truck to do it. I'm still waiting to hear back from the site that the OP posted.

I called up and talked to the guy in the parts department. He said it came with hardware so I placed the order. $2188.00 shipped to my house.

[QUOTE=HotDamnitsDavid,Feb 25 2010, 03:45 PM] His name was robert but i ordered from this site instead.

i dont really think it's too good to be true. most of those parts are really overpriced. i have a friend who worked in a honda/acura wholesale location before. he told me that those oem parts are low cost and very high profit. if you pay MSRP, a bunch of middlemen earn some $$$ on you.
average discount rate is around 25% these days. 2096 is about 30% off. not deeply discounted. |

it's not just s2000 parts. all the oem parts. one of our members already placed order. let's just wait and see what he will get. of course, everyone gotta make money. but let's make it HT price more reasonable.

The thing is, let's say $2100 is their actual purchase price straight from Honda. Can you really ship the hardtop w/ the box and packaging for an extra $100? Even if they had some kind of corporate account with UPS/FedEx, I don't think that's possible. Will it cost an extra $600, like the price they quoted me? Perhaps not, but, like you said, they need to make money, especially if you assume that $2100 is their cost.

i shipped 4 oem ap2 wheels in two separate boxes from CA to TX for only $75 last month. USPS parcel FTW..................

Anyway, I think your boxes aren't as hard to handle as what the hardtop would come in. My guess is that it's much more ungainly than 2 boxes of wheels. Plus, I would not want USPS delivering a hardtop, anyway. I've seen how beat up USPS packages can get and they weren't even large ones. Typically, UPS/FedEx prices include insurance, which I don't know if you paid for in your USPS shipment. I defintely would not want to have a hardtop shipped without insurance. Wheels are a lot more durable. Regardless, I'm not holding my breath for the shipping charge to be under $100. The guy at CFL told me that they hire a shipping company since UPS won't handle the top (that, I call b.s. on) and I don't think UPS would charge so little for something like that. They're probably padding the price for their profit. In fact, I was only given the total price, not an itemized one, so I don't know how much they're charging for shipping. |
USPS parcel can be insured. also, you can tell them that the material is fragile. so they put some stamps on it. it wont be beat up.
however, it seems CFL $2096 wont happen. they just want to raise the shipping cost which will rip you off. i guess this thread is done. |

Yeah, I know USPS can be insured but it still won't cost the $89 to ship the hardtop or whatever it was on CFL. And stamps or stickers on your package won't necessarily prevent anything from not getting beat up. Trust me, I've seen it happen.

Yeah when I called them they kept insisting it was $22xx.xx. They said they would call me back but they never did so I tried CFL instead.
To reiterate, I've been e-mailing CFL back and forth a few weeks ago and they insisted that the price was $27xx shipped to my door. Another S2KI member in the Florida forum got quoted the same price. |

FactoryHondaParts wouldn't even price one out for me. They said they didn't have any in stock and needed to get in touch with Honda to see what's up with production and pricing. When I called them, they said they were getting inundated with calls, mentioned S2KI, and will try to update their site with real prices by the end of next week.

Hello to all the Fine S2000 owners here!
I'm Neil from factoryhondaparts. I do appreciate all the calls and emails concerning the hardtops that were incorrectly priced on our website. We're working to correct the error with the compay that provides our catalogs and pricing. This same company provides online parts catalogs for 100's of sites of all makes. To add insult to injury honda when we went to check honda's inventory of the tops after the first 5 calls, they are all listed as NOT YET AVALIABLE. Although I'm confused by them saying YET not knowing if they intend to supply more at this time to a model that has ceased production  The six part numbers we looked up at honda have a list price of 3569.00 at this time and a discounted price around 2750.00 I will check with our factory rep to see if they do intend to produce or supply any more and try to get back here as soon as I know. That also give me an idea to ask him about their plans for the rest of the S2000 accessories....I'm trying to get the prices changed on the OEM catalog side to reflect the accurate prices for now, which I can do, when I'm not fielding emails and calls, ;) but the accessory prices have to be changed by our hosting/catalog company. It looks like you have a dedicated bunch of people here :) I even had one of your forum members drive out to see me today, which was a nice treat. I don't know the forums policy on vendors so if a mod can send me an email on your vendor rules, and banner rules, I would appreciate it. Thanks for your time everybody ! |
Hey Neil, it's Chris the guy who stopped by today. Glad to see you made it on here to clear some things up. As far as becoming a sponsor, there is a link on the top right hand corner. It was nice talking to you today and hopefully you are able to sponsor the AZ S2k group, we really need a good/trustworthy dealership out here.
