As the old saying goes, if it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

There seems to be scams with all sorts of performance cars. The S2000 is not so unique in that respect.

Avoid cars.com as much as possible, autotrader.com while has its share is not as bad, cars.com is ridiculous at times.

Same line over and over copy paste scammers:

"I moved to [insert foreign country here] becuase [insert lame excuse here] and need to sell it because [IM A MONEY HUNGRY WHORE], before we make deal wire me money so I can use it on crack cocaine...Thanks very much"

Yea get's lame autotrader>honda certified

I bet if you write the seller you'll find that the car is in some European country and the price includes shipping, and as soon as you send the money via Western Union he'll ship the car.

If you have some spare time and want to have some fun you could string him along.

Might be fun to jerk this guy around like you want to buy it and totally string him along. Ask him to FedEx you some photos of the car and you'll run down to Western Union.

If he says the car is in Europe, ask where becuase you're cousin lives in that city, where ever he says it is...

Could be that it is legit, then you'll have a deal, but no one is going to sell a car well below wholesale or a local auto-buyer would snatch it up and he'd never have to put on the internet to sell...

If there was any doubt before about it being a scam that doubt has been removed. Here's the reply I got from the 'seller.'

---------------------------

Hi,

Thanks for your interest. First of all I must inform you that I'm currently in Rome, Italy and also that the S2000 is here with me and it is in a perfect condition. If you are really interested we can work something out... I can ship out the car to you or something like that. What do you say?

Now, to tell you something about the car.
This car is completely stock. It has not been modified in any way. The only item on the entire car that is not stock, is the alarm system which is aftermarket. Car is currently only being driven in weekends and is in my garage under a car cover which is yours if you purchase vehicle. Rear wheel drive, 50/50 weight ratio, electrically assisted rack and pinion steering, unbelievable handling, and VERY fast.

The price that I ask is $11000 non negotiable.

I have a clear and free title which you will receive with the car. It can be registered into your name, so stay cool about this.

I must tell you that for security reasons I won't be able to fax or e-mail you any paper of the car, you'll get them with the car.

The car is US street legal, does not need any conversion and it meets all DOT and EPA regulations. You can check the VIN (JHMAP11483T005150) on http://www.carfax.com/

When I brought the car in Rome, I tried to register it, but when I found that the import and register taxes are very high. I was very dissapointed, because I love this car and now I am forced to sell it. I can't sell it here in Italy or in Europe, because it is US street legal. You can see this, if you will check the VIN. The car was registered in US before. This is the reason that I want to sell the car in USA because european people do not like it prepared this way. The other offers that I have are also from the US.

Regards,

Lawrence.
