Weird, we had one hell of a winter here and my cluster is fine.

Thanks for the responses guys. It makes me feel a little better to see you guys are just as stumped as me.

I have taken the cluster apart and can report that the glass is not cracked or damaged at all. I went so far as to warm it up very gently with a heat gun. The change is very minut. It looks like they're bubbles in the liquid.

Did you treat it with anything before the winter? Windex or something?

El Borracho Chino 04-23-2014 12:17 PM

No, usually I just dust that area or wipe it with a damp cloth since thats a tight area to be spraying in.

If it were my car I'd probably just get a small strip of electrical tape to put over top of the cluster right alongside the edge of the zero to cover up the dots. It may look (and be) janky, but I'd much rather notice a tiny piece of tape every now and then vs. constantly seeing illuminated dots next to my speedometer.

i think extreme cold weather does this to lcd screens. I'm no expert on lcd but I had my code reader out in the garage -20F weather and it developed that kinda shit on the screen. btw it didn't go away

I'd assume that's a defective screen. Although it may not be covered under warranty, the folks at Honda might want to get their hands on it to bitch to their parts supplier. Honda doesn't make the dash clusters - some supplier does.

You could try contacting your regional warranty guy through your local dealer and see if he would be interested in swapping it for a new one.

Rub dirt on it!

Seriously, I have been around these things for a long time and I have not seen that.
