Default Having oil changed tomorrow with Mobil 1 SuperSyn. Feedback?

My S2000 currently has a little more than 15k miles on it and I think I'm ready to start using the Mobil 1 SuperSyn oil.

Any feedback on this? I've heard that Mobil 1 is the absolute best to have as a motor oil. So, what's the real scoop here? Anyone here currently using this?

Thanks!

I changed over to Mobil 1 SuperSyn 10W-30 in both my Accord an S2000 this weekend. Walmart has it for around $28/six pack. A very expensive oil change. My S2000's Castrol Syntec still looked like new after 5K+ miles, too.

The new Mobil 1 is SL-rated as opposed to the previous SJ rating. MobilExxon claims it yields better MPG and I hope that is true because my V-6 Accord is very thirsty!

I have heard alot of good things about Mobil 1. rite now I am running with Pennzoil synthetic. I used to run Castrol but ever since they got in that law suite about putting additives in to there oils to make them synthetic I have changed. Even just with the change to Pennzoil I can notice a difference in my cars performance, My next oil change is going to be Mobil 1.

Airgate.. you already have 15K on your new 2002 S2000???!!!! That's nuts. I wish I could drive my car around that much. My 2000 S2000 just hit 10,000 miles...

I use the conventional 10-30 Castrol GTX, and change the oil every 2,500 - 3,000 miles. As little time as the oil spends in the car (my schedule), I can't justify the x-tra $$$ that the synthetic's are. Consumer reports did a study a few years back on conventional vs. synthetics, and found no significant difference in wear. Each to their own opinion, but I feel I get just as good of protection for my engine with conventional as I would with synthetic (keeping in mind my change interval), and $$$ cheaper too! I've heard that the engine noise is a little more pronounced with the synthetic's also.....and it's plenty loud enough for me already. Now, if I wanted to go longer mileage between changes, then I might opt for the synthetic's. My .02 worth..... BTW Airgate, it seems like you just bought your car....and 15,000 miles later? Enjoy dude.....not like I have to tell you that though. Kevin

I fully agree with Radster on this one. Conventional oil has been used for years and if you change it often enough everything will be fine with your car.

However, if I were to go the route of a synthetic I would have to choose AMSOIL first, followed very closely by Royal Purple. The Castrol is decent, never have liked Mobil 1 at all, but the AMSOIL is really a top quality 100% synthetic. None of that blend bullshiat.

Alot of you may have seen this already but for those who have not it is a good source of information on this subject:

FWIW - although it's a much more severe use than our cars, some years ago I had a long discussion with a mechanic / lead rigger for an offshore powerboat team, and he said that while they used to tear down and rebuild the engine after every other race when using conventional oil, when they changed to Mobil one, they found they could go twice as long using the synthetic.
