Default Head unit relocation?

Would it be possible to move the head unit to the "secret" compartment so that I would put... something else where the head unit goes? (I know what i want to put in there i just dont want to give it away) I know it wouldn't exactly be easy, but i wanted to know if it could be done.

Trying to do put gauges there?
Rick did an amazing, and amazingly expensive version of this, where its skinny enough to fit in the cover door.

But if not that? can we get a hint

It's actually extremely easy. If you're relocating an aftermarket units, its even easier (only need RCA & power wires).

If OEM, start with a radio harness (both female & male ends) and extend the wires.

Should just be a matter of wires and placement...I think.

Damn thats pretty hot. But if you are going to go nuts fabricating, why not install the JDM nav (or a simimlar unit) by cutting a hole in the dash.
That can be made to look OEM leaving the bottom spot hidden for your gauges.

Or if you want another unique idea - integrate the gauges (digital) into the rearview similar to some V1 display installs.

Actually i plan on keeping the headunit hidden, I dont change songs much, I just pop my ipod on a playlist and listen to that. when i walk away from the car i close the panel where the headunit originally was, and the car looks totally stock on the interior. when i get back in, i open the panel and there my gauges are)
