Default headlight adjustment?

While on a road trip this weekend I did my first bit of night driving, and while the HIDs are great, they appear to be aimed a bit low as there is a very noticable horizon...my question is, is that how they are supposed to be or do I need to adjust them?

I adjusted the passenger side up the second day I owned the car because I felt the same way. I have yet to adjust the driver's side because I need to remove the radiator overflow jug to get back into the space, that is on my list of winter projects.

The directions are in the S2000 manual, unless I looked it up in the service manual, I can't remember. I do remember I had better luck using my fingers on the big knob than I did trying to get a screwdriver down into the little adjustment hole.

Key - make several small adjustments so you don't get them too high.

I am looking for a spec on headlight height adjustment. eg. at a distance of 40 feet on level surface cut-off line should be ?? inches above ground.

I'm taking it into the dealer tomorrow, I'll let you know what spec they recommend.

I parked in front of the garage, about 2 feet back. I adjusted the light so it was 1" higher and drove around for a few days, I was not getting flashed by everybody so I adjusted it about another 1" up and it has been there ever since.

There will always be a noticable horizon when dealing with HID/xenon lights. It's just the nature of the beast, the provide less ambient illumination and more where you "need" it.

Triple H, I am interested in the height from garage floor to top edge of beam. Do you know if Honda has a spec to define the right height at a specified distance?

TepEvan, I have found at night that the ground immediately in front of the car is way too bright which causes the pupils to constrict which in turn makes it harder to see far out in front where things are important. Don't want to hit a deer with an S.

Has anyone noticed the same and found a solution? I am experimenting with tinted film on the bottom edge of the headlight to dim the light striking the road up close in front.

Rick's diffuser install

Pages 12 and 13 tell how to align the headlights. Hope this helps!

I have no idea, sorry, I did not measure.
After I made the adjustment I just pointed my car towards my other car down the road about 1/10 of a mile and made sure my beam was not above the hood, as in pointing directly into someone's eye.
