Default Heat Shield really work???

I have a Comptech CAI and it draws bogs down alot. I have a feeling it is drawing in heat instead of cold air. I saw the heat shield on ricks site and wanted to know if this will fix my problem. I made my own snorkle for the intake and it seems that the snorkle did not do anything. Any andvise would be great. Also where can I get clear side markers for my S? Thanks

Why don't you PM Rick. I am sure he has data to show if the heat shield works

I'm curious too. Weird that they call it an icebox when it draws hot air eh?

James, sorry to hear that you are bogging down with the new intake. That really sucks! That's one reason I've been reluctant to get an intake, that and the fact that they are expensive and don't add much as far as performance goes.

I prefer keeping the stock box. But it would be sweet to have the Spoon snorkle added to it.

You could always look into the Mugen thermostat, fan switch and radiator cap. I just ordered those parts. They help keep your car running cooler, which for us Florida guys, means less bogging down!

The problem is that it is hot muggy summertime here in Florida and we all will have some bogging off the line especially in the heat of the day when the car has been running for a while. Heat will travel up and around and below and beside and still bog you down heatshield or not. Even with an AEM , now your filter is sitting a foot off the 250 degree pavement with 100 percent humidity. This car is extremely prone to heatsoak.
Any pics of the snorkle? Check your spark plugs( they have been known to come loose in this car), use some fuel injector cleaner, reset the ECU, tap on top of your map sensor. Is there any local owners really close to you that are mechanical? Good luck!

Get a vented hood. Then when you're sitting at a light, all the hot air can espace to outside the engine bay. With my PRM and J's Racing hood, I've had zero bogging issues in Texas heat.
