The S2000 will be alot nicer for a daily but if i had to choose I have to say Elise.

 

if you can afford the elise definiltey go with it. its worth the wait and figure it would more expensive to buy the s2k and want the elise later and take the deprication hit.
elise is in a different league and you mention track time. easy choise

 

well, I would buy the Elise, and I would lease the S2000. With no offense whatsoever to you all, and to the car (I LOVE it) ... the S2000 is not the kind of car I would want to own long term. I felt the same way when I got the S4... leased it, modded it, and now I will take everything off, sell, and hand the car back to them. Who wants to own a turbo car with high miles?

 

well, i previously owned a reg. boxster and i traded in my 02 for an 03 s2k and i would do it all over again if i had the chance. as far as the elise i love it because of how hardcore it is, and its easy for me to get in/out. if you want, consider getting a comptech supercharger for the s2k and compare that to an elise, maybe itll sway your vote alittle.

i'd go with the s2000, plus it makes a pretty good daily driver. get an elise only as a second car.

 

There's a lot of blind love for the Elise, but it has some problems already....and you can expect many many more. It's a Lotus.

I am still on the Elise waiting list, but I'm going to pass on it. I have Audi S4 experience too and was debating Elise vs. S2000 for the longest time. I'm very happy with my '04 S2000 and can't tell you the number of fun drives I've had in it already .... at times other than simply a sunny weekend day. My Elise would spend most of it's time at home in the garage -- the S2000 can actually be used and enjoyed.

And .... it looks like Car & Driver just put the cars head to head. The Elise fans are celebrating a victory, but I don't really see it that way. Too much crap to put up with....and the performance difference is even more negligable in the real world:

did i miss something? maybe you guy's knowledge will expand my mind, im sorry, a boxster, even if its an S, has no chance against (especially an 04) s2k on the track. and the last two euro made vids ive seen the old ap1 destroyed the elise on the track. stock to stock. and im sure the 04 will probably lap the elise (if suzuka) LOL. anyways dude, get the S. hands down, for 13 K more , spent in mods, your S will blow doors on almost anything. and you have honda reliability. bottom line, you only live one life, do whats best for you. get an elise when they depreciate in the next year, after youve been cruising your S for a while, youll be able to decide better. dave
