Default help!!!

i washed and waxed my car today(black 2002). i noticed a small spot on the middle of my hood that seems to be rust under the paint. what gets me however, is that the hood is aluminum. how would rust be under my paint on aluminum?the car never sees weather b/c it is garage kept and only taken out rarely. it's 9 months old with 6000 miles on it. any suggestions?

Aluminum will oxidize (ie. rust), however, how can you be sure it's rust since you say it's "under" your paint. How can you see it? What's it look like. It could be some other defect or abnormality.

Is it possible that the paint is starting to lift off the metal or starting to peel?

i had a prelude that did this before and it was rust, so i assumed that this is rust also being it looks exactly the same. i do know for a fact that is wasn't there last time i waxed it. it could be lifting off of the metal though.
dispite what it is. what should i do?

Take it back to the dealer show it to them demand they fix it. It should still be under warranty?

You might want to post this quesion in the Wash and Wax Forum. The wizards who frequent that forum seem to have a handle an these kinds of issues.

Vmoul gave you some good advice to take it back to the dealer and the info from the people in Wash and Wax might give you a hint about how to approach the issue.

ABSOLUTELY! If the paint is lifting or if it is a rust spot under there, don't mess with it. Make the dealer take care of it.

i haven't got a chance to bring my car in yet, but today i took it out in the sun and looked at it good. nothing changed with the hood but i also noticed the front bumper has bad bug fossils in it and they look as if they are under the paint also. the wierd thing is, i always wash my car the day after bugs get on it and park it back in my garage. i talked to an old body man today and showed him my car. he said it is a defect in the paint. he also said that the bugs on the bumper is from them not letting the car sit long enough between the time it was painted and the time that they put it for sale at the dealership, so when i got it bug fossils penetrated the paint easily and got under it. he also said that i should demand a new bumper and hood, because these things come prepainted from the factory and if they paint it themselves it is probably going to do the same thing again. how should i approach the dealer in carrying this out???
