I'm trying to buy in San Diego, but am willing to travel. I've been to a couple of dealers, but all had mark up of about $5,000. For those of you who bought in So Cal and for MSRP (VERY important with the wife! She won't budge a cent over) please let me know what dealers you've had success with. I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

Supply and demand......won't get MSRP in CA. And won't anywhere else once it warms up. You need to look in snow country like the northeast. Check https://www.s2ki.com. They have a thread there. I know several people who have done MSRP in Eugene Oregon.....at Kendall Honda.

Try Norm Reeves Honda in Cerritos.
I have spoken to the fleet manager there before and they were willing to sell for MSRP

I got mine for the exact MSRP from Rock Honda in Fontana, CA back in 1999. They tried to sell me some accessories, and that's where most of the profit would have come from I wager. They had three Black/Blacks available at the time. All were gone within a few days of mine.

Good luck!

Here's my observation on this topic:

I picked up my Yellow from a dealership in So Cal one week ago for MSRP w/o forced options, and then told my friend about the deal I got, and she told her cousin about it (who happens to also be a fanatic of the S2K), and that guy proceeded to call up my dealership (the fleet sales manager) looking for the same deal I got, and the response he got was 39k including forced options!

Either I was lucky to get right in on the end of the low-demand period of the year, or.... who knows.

I posted this once before, but here it is again. Family Honda just opened in Rancho Santa Margarita. I stopped by about three days after they opened the doors. There were two S2000's on the showroom floor, a yellow and a silver/black. Both were being sold for MSRP. The salesman said they would be adding options later and increase the price accordingly. That was about 2 weeks ago. I stopped by last week and the silver wasn't on the floor, but the yellow was. They're located on Santa Margarita Parkway right next to the 241 tollroad.

Hurry!!

I bought mine exactly one year ago this week at Penske Honda out in Ontario for MSRP without any forced options. They were a great dealership to work with and I highly recommend them.

Here are my experiences.

I got mine for MSRP at Anaheim Hills Honda. It was under some unsual circumstances. The sales manager wanted to sell the car to get it in at the end of the quarter so he dropped the price to MSRP. They had the car listed over 10K originally.

The guys at Ontario Honda are pretty good. They'll sell it to you at MSRP, but they wanted me to pay $400 for a special "wax" job.

The people at Norm Reeves also will sell it to you for MSRP, but will make you buy some "forced" options, that will raise the price of the car. Maybe you can talk your wife into buying the car with the forced options. You did get it for MSRP, but with some options on it. That argument might work.

Good luck.

If you can't get it in So Cal, I agree with getting it from snow country. I'm in Dallas, and everyone wanted 5-8 over. Got mine from Honda of Mentor in Ohio. Paid $575 for shipping and MSRP with 0 options added. Ask for Joe Zawatski.

Try calling or checking websites everywhere! Be persistent, and keep a list. Duncan Child (GSM) at Cush Honda in North County (Escondido) was very fair and straightforward with me- I flew down from SF because at the time he offered the best price out of about 40 CA dealers ( a year ago, 35k even- I imagine you can do significantly better now) and was a straight shooter. Good luck!
Don

PS My experience with "Mac" in Pasadena was horrid. He flat out lied to me.
