Default Help- Buying used AP2

Does anything look out the ordinary apart from cold air intake?

well, the washer fluid reservoir is missing the lid. A/C line is missing the cap. Can't tell if the coolant in the reservoir is just extremely dirty, or actually the correct colour from this angle. Brake fluid is in need of change.
Must be an AP2v1 vehicle.

What are they asking for this car?

Looks very high mileage/little pride in ownership based on the missing paint and oil stains on the valve cover and the rust on various parts. The oil filter is wrong shade of blue and I don't see the markings that are on the specific S2000 oil filter. Maybe I just can't see the markings but it should look like this. Note the text and numbers around the perimeter of the filter. Wrong filter is indicative of indifferent maintenance (but at least someone tried).:

Could be a candidate for a rescue if the problems are mainly cosmetic.

He is asking 16k, it has 104k miles. Exterior looks good other then soft top and interior looks alright other then some wear on the seats. Thank you!

I wouldn’t have noticed details like this from the picture, thank you! So it definitely has red flags would you get this? 104k miles 2004

Aside from the valve cover looking like it's been through a few tours in 'Nam and the missing caps pointed out, it looks pretty decent. Corrosion/rust check looks pretty good actually, IMO. Battery tie down has rust but that's normal at this age. 16k for an 04 at that mileage is a pretty good price right now. If all else checks out, I don't think that stuff is necessarily a show stopper. You'll need to do preventative maintenance once you get it, but you would with most cars you buy anyways.

They recently phased out the old blue oil filters that are pictured here. The baby blue is the new Honda replacement part. Nothing to worry about there. Even at that, I don't think it's rational to turn away a good deal due to a non-oem oil filter. Definitely best with and I've never put anything other than OEM on mine. However, I bought my car with a non-oem oil filter and it's been fine. Would you scoff at a LBP car for 12.5k because of a K&N oil filter? No, you accept the (negligible) risk because it's priced in. If you're paying 30k, maybe that makes sense but at 16k in today's market, you can't be that picky.

If you were paying 22k, some of this criticism would be more applicable. At 16k, these are not the types of issues to turn down a car for unless you're only accepting pristine cars and willing to pay more up front.

As noted the non-specific S2000 filter, if it is indeed that as it's not fully visible in an indicator not a brilliant red flag. If it IS the right filter I'd add a plus to the car.

The new baby infantry blue filter has the same text and number markings as the old.

???
The filter in his photo is the new light blue S2000 filter. Its the exact same color as the post above.

Why is everyone so paranoid? I agree with Jub. Its $16K for a 104K mile AP2 is a great price. It reflects the need for some TLC.

So what? Not everyone is looking for something pristine.

Objectively speaking....the things out of place are the broken windshield washer cap and AC line cap. lol...wow! what issues!!!!

Its dirty, has a CAI, and looks to have been driven in salt.

So maybe that says it was owned by some imbecile who abused it. Or maybe not.

For $16K and 104K miles, if you had to clean it and do a little TLC, you still got a good deal.

Its a used car, OP. Just like any used car...use your brain to think, use your eyes to look, have it inspected, and be aware of anything you notice during the test drive.

My engine bay did not look much better than this when I bought the car nearly seven years ago with about 30k more miles. It has served me well in the years and 25k or so miles since.
