Help with Data on 04' to 05' S2000 - How Many Are Left In U.S.
Hello all!
Unfortunately, my 05' S2000 was side swiped on July 27th. I will be taking my S2 to Signature Autobody for the accident repairs. But, I've been trying to research how many 04' to 05' models are left in the U.S.(that are all OEM, unmolested & still drivable) for information purposes for my upcoming arbitration against the other persons auto insurance company.
If anyone can help me with any information that can help the Arbitrator understand how rare and low the number of how many S2000's (04' to 05') were produced would be very helpful.
Thank you in advance.

Interesting numbers. Amazing you were able to put that together.
To the OP - maybe consider paying a credible "expert" in used car values to do a brief report with his/her opinion on the fair value of your s2k before the accident and the fair value of your s2k after the accident and repairs. The report should also explain why the value is diminished more than the actual cost of the repairs which we all know it most certainly is. Put that in affidavit form and submit.
Did you agree to arbitrate with the other driver's carrier? If not, can't you just file an action against the other driver and get a judgment if the carrier won't settle up with you? Depends on the law in your state I suppose.

NNY S2k - Thank you for the link, much appreciated!
rpg51 - Yes, I do have full & complete coverage. The person that hit me has insurance, but is claiming it's my fault. According to my insurance Agent, once we both have completed our statements and estimatesee, if his insurance doesn't want to settle, then our claims will go to arbitration. I just want to be prepared beforehand if our claim happens to go that route.
Thank you to everyone for their posts. If anyone has gone to arbitration, please post to help me, I've never been in an accident before, nor have I known anyone that has gone to arbitration.
Thanks again!!

One way to look at the "rarity" of our cars is to compare it to the top selling vehicle in the US--the Ford F-150.
Ford sold 780,000 F150s last year which is 2136 a day or 66,216 every month.
Honda sold 66,860 S2000s in the US over the 10 years.
So, there are as many F-150 sold every month as there were S2000 sold over the entire 10 years......

Don't you have "no fault" collision insurance? YOUR insurance should be fixing your car. You pay your deductible. Once that's done your insurance company will attempt to get the money from the other driver's insurance if they were at fault. If they do you get your deductible refunded. If not, not.
You should not have any interaction with the other driver or their insurance company, that's your insurance company's job. Same as if you drove into a wall, you don't deal with the wall, just your insurance company. Walls rarely hit us, though.

Since there is a dispute in whose fault it is, let the insurance companies deal with it. Give your legal statement to the best of your ability and have the arbitor sort it out.
A couple of years back I got into a side swipe situation with my daily driver (not the S2000). The other guy, who hit my rear door and quarter panel, claimed that I shouldn't have been in the turn lane lane when he turned in. Truth be told, I did cut into the center lane to get around traffic, so technically I shouldn't have been there. BUT after going to arbitration, the arbitor ruled a 50/50 split on the fault and that I was not liable for his repairs.
In my situation, I first paid my deductible to get my car fixed, then gave a recorded legal statement to my insurance company, provided them a couple of sketches of the intersection and that was it.
You never know what will happen. Just let the insurance folks sort it out.
