Im installing the back chrome emblems, and am having trouble removing the adhesive. The fron and rear werent too big of deal since there wasnt much adhesive to begin with, but the side emblems are being rather stubborn.. The emblem is off, but much adhesive remains. Ive tried rubbing alcohol, simple green and meguiars quick detailer.

Any tips? The car looks pretty dumb with masking tape and adhesive on the sides.

Thanks

This was a pain in the ass for me as well. I spent a few hours with some WD-40 and the edge of a calling card...spray, scrape, wipe, spray, scrape, wipe.

I didn't have masking tape in the way, so I used a hair dryer to heat the adhesive as I rolled the adhesive off.

Did mine on a fairly cold day and it took forever. A hair dryer really speeds the process along though.

I used Isopropyl alcohol, Tea Tree oil, and Eucalyptus Oil (the latter two are probably less common in other countries, but Euc will take chewing gum out of hair or carpet in a jiffy). There was no clear winner.

I added the above to a thin folded napkin and taped it to the sides of the car and left it for a while. I then used a fairly sturdy cotton cloth and rubbed the gum till it balled up and came off.

Also, you guys are lucky. In AUS we get the full front and rear emblems (much like the Black Chrome only with body coloured background) so it takes a lot longer to get them off.

wd40 worked bette rthan the rubbing alcohol, but still was a tedious ordeal. in fact, I still have the OEM silver "S2000" badge on the drivers side, I'll get around to doing that side next weekend, i needed the sunlight for zaino..

Thanks for all the help.

When I took my badges off, I used a combination of WD40, Xenit, Goo Gone and good old fashioned elbow grease. It was a complete BITCH! Took me about two hours to do the whole thing!

Xenit is a citrus-based solvent that worked better than any of the other things I used. So you may want to try that. It should be available at your local warehouse type home improvement store...call around first. But a combo of the Xenit and hair dryer should work well.

Good luck!

Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK) is the solvent of choice......

I second Greg on the Xenit. You have to let it sit on the glue for a while but that stuff is amazing.
