Help finding a shift knob
Hey everyone. Normally I wouldn't create such a ridiculous thread, but what I have in mind is very specific, so I'm hoping someone can help me find what I'm looking for.
I want to find a countersunk shift knob for the S2000, that is in the shape of the stock knob. I had a countersunk knob from Muz, and although it was a nice knob (height-wise, throw-wise), I did not like the shape.
Titanium would be nice, too... but not a big deal.
Thanks for any help!

Spoon's titanium knob is not round, but not quite the shape of the stock knob. With no locknut, it is considerably lower than stock. It is also hollow, which makes it much lighter. It feels like it weighs as much as an empty egg shell. Removing the locknut on the stock knob will get you pretty low also.
It's possible to countersink the OEM knob as well. I haven't done it myself, but I remember a thread a while back where a group did it themselves on someone's drill press.
Why not just buy a spare OEM knob and try to find a machine shop to drill it for you? Some research here on the site would likely yield an answer to what depth you can safely drill to.

SM00TH976 - I agree that the stock knob is near-perfect... I just wish it were a little bit lower, and maybe a bit heavier.

actually the shifter feels more solid if the knob is heavier.
honestly the stock shift knob is as close to perfection as i've seen. don't know why you'd want to change it out for something else.

I agree the stock knob is quuite good. I changed because I happen to like the burnt titanium look, the weight (admittedly its only ounces, but ounces make pounds), and more importantly, the feel. The Spoon knob feels more comfortable in my hand. It is shorter than the stock knob and a little fatter. The fatness equals more comfortable shifting. The shortness equals a shorter throw. All good things in my opinion. And all good reasons for changing from the already good stock knob.

AJ Racing just came up with a new Titanium shiftknob that IS countersunk and around the same size as the OEM Ti knob.
The prototype I have now is a DULL Ti color. AJ PwR has another one that's polished and torched like the Spoon one.
I believe it'll be out before Christmas. It'll retail for around $100-110 CAD.
A few colors will be available: Polished silver, Spoon color, Gold, Purple, Blue or a mix of the colors.
Here's how the knob looks.

You can always PM me if you want more info on it or if you wanted one fast.
