Help Me
I'm new to the forum and need help. I have around 35 grand to spend and plan on getting an S. Should I go new and wait for the color I want, or go for a 29 thousand dollar 2001 in silver w/red? It has 7K miles on it. I could spend the extra money on mods
Your ideas would help me out alot.

i would go with a slightly used one...is the used one a 01?...or you could shop around maybe find a little bit better deal or just wait and get a used one in the color you want. its up to you. use that extra money to make it stand out...

If I were you (and I'm not), I would consider getting a years worth of interest (or less) and wait for the MY2003 to come out. Even the dealers aren't positive what sort of new things will be in that car. But, that's just my $.02.
Drew,
This is really important so read carefully:
1. S2000's have residuals (i.e. resale values) that are out of this world. That's a very good deal if you're an owner/seller, but a very bad deal if you're a buyer. So do not entertain buying used.
2. S2000's, although very reliable machines, tend to beg their drivers to be abused just because they are so much fun to drive. You never know what kind of abuse that car has taken over 7,000 miles and by how many people. Again, don't get a used one.
3. There is a myth (to which I fell victim up until recently) that in order to pay MSRP and get the color combo you want, you have to wait a while. NOT TRUE! AT ALL!. When I wanted my '02 in Spa Yellow, I started from the top of the virtual phone book of Honda dealers (starting with the closest to my town) and worked my way down until I found the right car, brand spanking new (11 miles on the odo), and with $600 off the sticker price. Mind you it was over 200 miles away, but by gosh I got it in less than 4 days from the time I started my search.
I suggest you do the same thing. Just be prepared to deal with the possibility of many jerks (not all, but some) who want you to put a deposit first, pay over sticker, etc... But do not despair, just keep working the phones and be aggressive.
4. Lastly, '02s have a lot going for them. Most importantly a brand new 6-spd gearbox (trust me the old one was crap) and a glass rear window. Those are very important things that you cannot touch on an '00 or an '01.
5. Until '03 contents and spec's are finalized, there is no reason to fret over them. It's unlikely that there is such a substantial improvement so as to warrant putting your plans (and your $35K) on hold in order to wait for them.
Go out and buy yourself a new '02 S2000. You can get there from here my friend and @ MSRP. Best of luck. -KM.
