Default Help me decide on which one is a better buy

Hello Everyone,
Finally decided to start looking an S2K with less than 100k miles, being my budget is $13k, looks like my choices will be limited to AP1. Went to look at a car that is an 01 with 87k miles, private seller is asking for $11500. I also got a quote from a dealership(this is for a different car) for an 01 with 75k miles for $12500 out the door price. Which one do you guys think is a better buy.

Truthfully I'm leaning more towards an 02-03. but if this is a good buy then i don't want to pass up the opportunity to own one of this machines soon. Any input you guys can give me will be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Those are really close in mileage but, i'd have to say go for the lower mileage one UNLESS there is a difference in how they were maintained (if there is any documentation). Another thing to consider is the color. Since these are pretty close in mileage, I would go for the closer one on my color preference list. good luck...and PICS!

i would recommend holding off till you find one with lower millage. i bought my 2000 s2k w/40,500miles for 12k from a private owner. it was in mint condition, had a bunch of rick's s2k goodies like clear diffusers, clear side markers, higher windguard, and Kosei wheels with 2k miles on tires. i absolutely LOVE this car.

If you can go see each one, do. The lower mileage one is only $1k more and seems to be the better buy at this time. However, look them over, take a test drive and use the guide on what to check for in buying a used S2K when making your decision.

Good luck!!!

My advice is DO NOT RUSH IT. Don't be hasty! If you do you will realize that you could have got a better deal on the color you wanted with lower miles for the same price if you had simply been patient. Unless you are currently riding your bicycle until you find an S2000 you have time! These cars start popping up for sale more before Christmas.

Thanks for the input guys. The 01 S2k were both silver with black interior and both have a foggy/yellowish plastic rear window. Overall I would say both cars are in good condition. For now, I'll keep looking for an 02-03.

By the way, what's everyone thoughts on a 2002 that has been upgraded to ap2 front/rear bumpers, and headlights. my first thought when i saw the ad was that the car might have been in a wreck at one point. Should I be cautious when looking at cars like these.

Got this MYO2 WITH 72,000 miles in March for $12,400 out-the door from dealer. I hammered them hard for the deal. Has Volk Rays 18" racing rims.[attachment=4871:IM001449.JPG]

You are already saying you want a 02-03, so wait for a 02-03.

My suggestion... wait for a 100% bone stock <60k mile 02-03. In the long run, you will be satisfied as they are getting harder and harder to find.

The only thing I would trade mine for would be a 02-03 white one, but ultimately it isn't worth it as I know my maintenance history is tip top. On a 8 year old car with a high potential for abuse, it is comforting to know.
