Cross-posted from "For Sale and Wanted"--

After "lurking" for several years, I'm finally going to take the plunge and buy an S2000.

Please don't call me lazy...but I know that there are quite a few resourceful people on this board that can help me in "the search"... I will, of course, get in contact with the dealers on the "MSRP" list in the S2ki library.

I will be looking for an '04, preferably Silverstone/Red-Black. South Texas=excellent; Texas=good; south=fair.

Please--if you run across (or have previous experience with) a dealership that you have confidence in, let me know!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Wow--53 looks to this point, but no info--guess everyone is in the same "boat" I am. Or not.

Has anyone dealt with Gillman or Gunn Honda(s) in San Antonio? Feedback?

Thanks again

YOYO (You're on your own). Seriously, it may be tough to press a good deal during the first few months of a new MY. Here's what I did in 2000 when typical dealer premium's were $5000-7000 above MSRP. Figure out the 5 closest dealers. Get on the phone and tell them what you want and get their best price. Be sure to give them your contact info. They will call back about once a week to check on your interest. As each one calls, re-iterate your target price and tell them outright the best offer you have received so far. After about a month, you will start getting some decent deals. I paid a premium for my 2000, but it was less than half of what the dealers wanted. There shouldn't be as much gouging on the 04's.

Sorry...can't offer and help with dealers in Texas...but I can tell you that in my experience and with what I have read, prices have not been that bad. I have seen deals in the 32k range for the Southern states for a MY04.

Well, I cant rememebr who exactly it was but they are a continous seller of S2K's on this board from the east coast. We were looking at getting ours from him before we found ours. He has been selling the MY03's for $29,999, so I'm sure he will not rape you on the MY04's. Check him out (I wish I remembered his SN now)....

I am the Internet Sales Manager for the Valencia Honda (CA).
Contact the internet departments of those dealerships and stay flat out that you are an internet customer and your not gonna pay mark up. The key is here to find a dealership which has more than one, key number 2 is not to be too picky about color or interior ( they wont do dealer trade unless there is good amount of profit) and be ready for the purchase. If you tell them you are plannig to get it they will not give you a good deal. If you tell them if you give me this price Ill take the car right now, ill sign it right now. These are prett powerfull close for the customers. I am showing you how to close the dealership. The best time is tuesday or wnedsday morning. Call and talk to them in the morning, if workse comes to worse ask the guy to ask his GSM (general sales manager) if he can do this deal or not. Tell him that you know that the dealership hasnt sold many cars since its tuesday morning and it would be nice to put a deal on the board especially an s2000. If you get MSRP take it dont try to take it below that they wont give it plus they will get mad and try to jack you on financing and stuff. The key is to make sense. Also the salesman is gonna make about 500-600 dollars if you pay MSRP for the car so he shouldent bitch very much tell him hes making 500 dollars to get a car washed and et some papers for ready to sign he should take it.

I agree with everything you say with the exception of paying full MSRP. That's close to $4,500 profit(or more) for the dealer with the hold back.

The new buyers are going to have some negoitating leverage with the huge drop in redline and all the yada yada about highest HP/liter which Honda puffed their chest on for five years. You need to throw all that stuff back in their face and see what happens.

Do not pay full list on a 2004 S2000.

Rhino- The process is easier than stated above, just contact the dealers in your surrounding area( you may need to go further out) either through the internet or the Sales Manager directly and tell them what your looking for. Most professionals won't have a problem accommodating you on your request.

If you still can't find what your looking for I'll sell you one, but I'm in GA!

P.S. - sjsharks, where did you get your #s $4,500(or more)! With holdback it does even hit the $4k mark!

Invoice(2003) is $29,325 less holdback, brings cost to around $28,700. MSRP is a bit over $33,000.

BTW, the guy I mentioned earlier is Lou. He's from IL, but the $$ you probably can save would cover the shipping
