Default Help me to interpret a carfax?

I know these are noobish things to be asking about, but, my mind is in a complete bog right now...has been all day...Can anyone help me with my questions?

As you can tell, I'm looking to purchase an S2000, and need help on knowing if what I'm reading is good or not

The vehicle I want the carfax for, is a 2002 s2k, with 17,XXX miles on it, selling for $6,600...Now, its quite obvious why I wanted the Carfax for it, but from what I can tell, it looks clean?

The other vehicle, the one I ask down below about the engine being replaced, is a 2002 s2k with 200 miles on the odo (because the engine was replaced under warranty) selling for $20,000

Any help would be much appreciated

Adam

Also, why is it saying the engine type is SOHC? Did they make S2000s with a SOHC? I thought they were all DOHC?

Someone please help!

Also, what about this? If a cars motor has been replaced, that makes the car have a salvage title, correct? What if it was replaced under warranty? Here's the description box

"02 Honda S2000, Sebring Silver Paint, Rare Black on Red Interior, Chrome to 35% Tint, Voodoo Shift Knob, 4-IG Cold Air Intake, Red Calipers, Sandblasted Windscreen with Red Neon Light, Cleared Sidemarkers, Cleared Corner Pieces, One Owner. Handles like a go-kart and turns heads like a Ferrari. Invidia SS exhaust. Never seen snow. #4 rod broke and put a hole in the block at 36213 miles. Honda covered all under warranty. Replaced motor, clutch, presure plates, flywheel and a few other parts. Odometer says 36000 miles, but motor has under 200 miles since repair. Also put new tires on all the way around. All replaced parts have a 12 month, 12000 mile warranty. Small glitch on front bumper where hit by shopping cart."

(BTW, this is a DIFFERENT vehicle than the one I wanted the Carfax for)

a vechicle is only salvage when there is a report to the insurance company and they deemed the damage over half the car's value. in the case with the s2000 w/ the rod through # 4 cylinder, it stated it was replaced under honda warranty, so the car still has a clean title.

the carfax for the s2k for 6600 seems fine, but i'll give you this warning though. not all accidents are reported to the dmv, and not all reported accidents get recorded by the dmv. anyways, the price is too low.....any possible combination of bent frame/engine damage can contribute to this price. if you have the opportunity to have the car check out by a professional mechanice/body shop for any the body/engine, then it might be work it.

The car was purchased new in Massachusetts in April 2002. Its original owner drove it for 1.5 years and 17000 miles. Then he drove it to Florida and, in Nov 2003, sold it to a dealer. During the winter of 2003/2004 it apparently has been test-driven a lot ( 700 miles total ), lived in two different dealerships, until 6 months later, in May 2004, it was purchased by its second owner, the same guy that is now trying to sell it. Since you're saying that the car has 17XXX miles now, its second owner couldn't have driven it for more than 800 miles in 1.5 years.
As far as Carfax can tell, there is nothing wrong with this car.
I strongly recommend looking at the car in person to find out why it spent 6 months in dealership lots and why its current owner didn't drive it as he should have. Not to mention why he's asking such a ridiculously low price ( 30% of what it ought to cost ).

Is it possible that the car has had some major damage ( e.g. flooded ), but this hasn't been reported anywhere because the owner didn't have comprehensive insurance at the moment?
