I replaced the leather in my last S to have suede inserts from Katzkin.com. I immediately felt a big difference in seat stiffness. The new seat covers where much softer all over than the OEM. I'm sure you could even put additional padding underneath before you put the new leather on for even greater cushin. That, and maybe some extra material in the mid back for lumbar support. I think if you did that, you would feel a big difference.

By the way, how long did you have the S before you got rid of it? When I bought mine I went from a really soft seat to the S2000. I had back pain for the first 4 months and it was from the seat being so firm. After a while my back pain went away. I think my body just got used to it.
I had it for 3 months when I started feeling back pain, it sat for a fourth month, then sold it by the begining of the 5th month. The pain is mainly in my lower back, its been numbing. The day I initially felt it, I was on my way to work, and I suddenly couldnt push the clutch pedal down, without extreme pain. I pulled over and tried to bend and stretch, but nothing worked. It was really bad.

About the NSX I posted, I think Id rather go with a 1995, this one just looks dated because of the bad qual pic. The guy whos selling it lives 128 miles away from me, so Id def. go check it out first, but believe it or not, Id rather have an S2000 again.

Just so you know, I used to do all sorts of exercise, so Im in pretty good shape, not showing off or anything at all, but just trying to give you an idea of how out of the ordinary this problem Im having is. Im 23 years old, and never lift anything too heavy. I dont get it

Anyone know what kind of doctor I should speak to. I initially got some x-rays, and they told me it was some weird something, and not to worry about it, Id rather get a second opinion.

I own a 2000 model S and have back pain in this car that I do not have in other cars. I am glad someone is thinking about the problem. I drove a 2005 S today and it had been lowered and had coil overs. It rode smoother than mine, when hitting bumps it did not have the jarring to my back. So should I keep my 2000 S and change to coil over with the different springs or should i just sell this car and hope I hit the right year for a suspension that is tolerable. By the way, which year was the S Smoother to ride in on bumpy roads,

OP, coming from someone who has lower back issues, I'd like to say that based on what you described when you experienced the pain driving to work, you most likely have a bigger issue here and need to get checked out by a knowledgeable doctor. I get lower back pain from various types of activities (golf, weightlifting, yardwork, etc.) but never, never when I drive the S, even on longer distance trips. A softer suspension won't solve your problem. It's all about seating position. You can't be laid back. Your lower back (lumbar) needs to be touching the back of the seat or whatever lumbar support pad you put in there. The more upright you are, the more pressure is taken off your lower back.
