It all depends how old you are:

If you are over 35, I think the 330cic will fit you more, especailly you have 2 kids.

To even consider the S you must have a second car; however, the real question is do you want to be driving by yourself or with the family along? If your taking the family anywhere and you have the S, then you'll be taking the wife's car. And you'll be alone (not bad some times, especially with 2 kids) in the S unless you have a sitter.

hey valueguy,

this just a suggestion. if your looking for a powerful sporty convertible that can also take the family along, did u look into a saab "viggen" convertible??? You can get great deals on them right now due to the economy.....

i will note that i was getting this viggen and had to wait for it and test drove a s2k and cancelled the saab.....im sure once u drive the s2k u will make teh same decision as most of us and get the s2k!

It is just what I would do. A 60 yr old person can buy an S2K if he/she likes it.

Well, I just did a search on this topic and although there are some similar posts my "topic" remains somewhat different.
I am looking for a third vehicle. I have a primary car, a '00 M-B E430 Sport, and my wife has a new 2002 Odyssey due at the end of the month.

Among the three choices listed does a BMW 330 Conv. with 5 speed and factory optional 18" M style wheels appeal to anyone on this board? Yes, the BMW costs more money but you get more car. Also, I can take my kids for a spin on the weeeked.
However, I will disable the S2000 passenger airbag if I decide to purchase the S2000.

The M-B SLK 320 with 6 speed is a "sporty" car; but, the handling and steering just are not on a level with the S2000. You can buy a 2001 SLK with 6-8,000 miles for around $37,000.

Perhaps, I will purchase the S2000 this year and when the economy recovers get the M3 convertible with SMG tranny.
The S2000 hold its value well aand I should be able to get
$30,000 for my 2002 provided it has less than 6,000 miles and is in mint condition 1 year from now.

Your opinions and comments are appreciated.

Forget about the third car (your toy), upgrade your wife's car to a MDX, X5 or RX300. Then trade in your E430 for a 330cic.

Im not a fan of used cars so the MB out.

The BMW is more of a family car, and hey! great performance!

The s2k is way fun to drive and its a high rever which is awesome!!!!!!

Whichever you decide, get manual!!!!!
