Default Help! MY04 - center console compartment jammed!

I put my cell phone and work ID into the center compartment and slid the door shut... I guess my phone was a little too big for the door is jammed against it. I press the button and the door slides all of about six or seven millimeters before getting stuck. I tried to apply some extra pressure, to force it open, but it's not helping and I don't want to break the darn thing.

Any ideas on how I can get at it? Is there a way to gently remove the door upward without busting anything? I gotta take care of this tonight to get at my work ID! Help appreciated....

Something in there is probably catching on the top of the lid. Sorry if this is obvious to you but maybe if you stuck something in there and tried pushing whatever is jamming it to a different position it might free up the lid? Sounds almost like the phone tilted back and the antenna thing is caught on the lip. Maybe if you got something pushed back in there (coathanger-big nail-??) you could get (whatevers jamming it) it to shift to a different position or something.

Doh! Good luck. I hate it when stuff like that happens.

Incredible! I certainly hope that's the worst problem you ever have with your car.

Not to throw off the subject, but did you know about the glove box organizer from modifry? He is a local s2ki member here and he has some nifty inventions. The well cut abs plastic fits well on your glove box. If you have the organizer, placing your phone above the lowest level will prevent any jam.

johninator, that organizer is dope, and he mails it to you in a tiny envelope and it takes like a couple minutes to install with no tools.

Simple, but very ingenious.

I was impressed especially by slightlly oversizing some of the panels to hold it in place by the sides.
