Default Help for newcomer: '01 S2K vs '02 S2K

Just test drove an '01 S2K with 7,000 mi on it; excellent condition; yellow. Price: 28k. From what I've seen in this area (Portland OR), the price is hard to beat. My dilemma: my preference is silver with black leather, which I can get locally for 1K above MSRP for '02 model. Any thoughts on whether the 2002 revisions are noticeable / worth it? Can the glass rear window be installed into '01 soft top without replacing entire soft top? Are the transmission changes significant/noticeable? Any regrets over color choice for those of you that have Spa Yellow Pearl? Any comments appreciated.

Buy the color you want.
The changes for 2002 are worth it to many of us. Lots of us have had one or more frustrations with the plastic rear window.
If I were buying now, I'd prefer $32840 for a new one over $28,000 for an '01 with 7,000 miles.

I really like yellow. I love my Silver/Black, but that is one nice yellow. I saw a Spa Yellow NSX picture yesterday on the www.honda.com page and realized again how nice it is.

I took delivery on my '02 blue/blue last week. It has 800+ miles already and I love it. From what I read
retrofitting a glass window in an '01 is going to cost you significantly, and it won't be a factory install.
The other changes are nice, improved transmission, sound system etc. '02 comes with cd player,
I think '01 has a cassette deck.

Shop around. I paid sticker & the dealer ate the destination charge - and I got 1 year of free oil changes
and service.

I agree with the above, buy the color you want. I waited six weeks for my factory order on the blue/blue
and it was worth every minute. I love the car.

No compromises!!!

No. All three years have a CD Player/AM/FM radio of so-so quality. The '00 lacks a clock. Both the '00 and the '01 lack separate door tweeters. In any case, the factory deck is a bit wimpy for hearing music with the top down at speed.

I would like to know which one you get.
I am in the same boat, get a new 2002 Suzuka Blue in 60-90 days for $31500.00 or maybe in the next week or two get a 2001 White with $5000.00 in up grades for around $30,000.00(asking price), also 7000 miles.
The payment are about $80.00 a month less due to price and special ints at CU. I will think about it all week, but will have to wait until I can see the 20001 S2000 next Sunday, before I can decided.
I like both colors, so that doesn't help any and a new one would be great, but so are the savings and most of the upgrades on the 2001.

I like the white 2001's red and black interior better than white '02s with the fully red interior. That's just my taste. I also like the all blue interior in the Suzuka Blue. It is a very similar interior to my '92 white/blue Accord. We enjoy that car very much and never objected to the dark blue interior. But I like dark and solid interiors like my Silver/Black.

What are the $5.000 in upgrades? If they are upgrades you'd like, it might be the right deal for you.

My choice would be a new one of your color choice, after all, you'll probably have it for a few years. Also buying new there will never be a question as to how it was driven/maintained by previous owners. As for waiting for the 03..you'll miss another summer of fun driving.

I think the car was maintained correctly, because of the the person who owns it now. Do I know her, no, but I am thinking of type of person, car nut. Also she said that the rear tires are still in good shape, so that's not bad for 7000 miles. I will just have to wait until next week to chose.

As for the upgrades, some are good, others are ok.
I like the headers, exhaust, leather shift cover, X-brace, and most of the stereo.
I am ok with the badges, and some other cosmetic stuff.
