Is it possible that he drove through some deep water and got something (ie piece of wood) stuck in his rear suspension?

I'm not taking your problem lightly, but what was the condition of the road. I have found a couple of areas on the higway near my home (I-580) that have 'interesting' characteristics. It my be because of Semi mergings (the occurance happens usually at the juctions of 2 highways) but at certain speeds my car's suspension will start bouncing up and down noticeably. This only happens at certain areas and at certain speeds. You had to look very carefully to notice that the concrete was rippled slightly. With a stiff sports car suspension... But the safest thing is to have your car inspected.

Come on don't be insulting. The car is unstable, end of story. [...] But come on, telling me i'm imagining something or that the road is uneven is rediculous.
Well since you know what the problem is, why did you bother asking us? If you get a "rediculous" answer then maybe you asked a ridiculous question.

Did i say "he is hydroplaning"? Mikegarrison wasn't sure what he meant by "washing out", so am I. I gave him my opinion of what he might meant.

Suspension problems are very vague. They can happen because of a million different reasons. you can ask 50000 questions and still not figure it out. You have to take it to an alignment shop, and have them test/inspect the moving parts on your rear end. It could be bushings, maybe hub/bearing, maybe alignment, bad shocks, etc. You wont know 'till you get down and dirty on the car. [endofstory]

how are the 04 tires in the rain?
I got home from my first trip in my MY04 last week. The next to last day, I spent 9 hours in anything from a light drizzle to an all out downpour with most of it spent in a solid shower. The mileage on the car was approaching 6k at the time and it performed perfectly. I was running 55 to 60 in a 55 zone most of the time.

I don't remember feeling any significant hydroplaning and I "was" looking for it, especially after all I've read on the subject in this forum! I don't have any experience with the pre-MY04's so I can't offer any insight as to whether it's better or not.

Drive Safe,
Steve R.

I figured i'd update on what the problem was. After taking my car to Duncan Hokie Honda in Christiansburg (one dealer that i would definately take my car to again) they said that i had merely broken a belt in one of my rear tires...

That explains why i felt like i had no control

Thanks to all who gave advice, including those who thought i was imagining things...no hard feelings
