hey everyone. first post for me here. i think. i've been looking at the s2k for a long time cuz of its beautiful styling and its awesome performance. being rwd just sealed the deal. i'm 18 and i've had an integra that was stolen, so i was wondering how the s2k is with theft. i'm also wondering how much the insurance is for other s2k owners out there near my age.

also, i know this isn't a fair comparison, but can anyone who has owned an integra before compare it to the s2k? i had a '99 gsr.

thanks guys.
hopefully future s2k owner -> ->

oh and if you're about to give me a talk about not getting an s2k at my age cuz i'm an amateur driver and i'll just street race all the time, don't. i'm not one of those. (not that the s2k is known for its straight line performance, which is another thing i love). thanks again.

I had a Prelude before (and test drove a 2000 GS-R before buying the Prelude). All I can say is that there is no comparison between the Integra and the S2000. The power of the S2000 is considerably higher than the Integra, and the handling is far beyond that of the Integra as well. Then again, for 32,000... it should be better than the Integra. However, I must point out that RWD is different than FWD, and the S2000 can be a handful if you aren't used to performance RWD cars (trust me, I learned the hard way). With the stiff suspension, the S2000 can even be more of a handful than Mustangs & Camaros.

If you get the S2000, I recommend that you don't try to push its performance envelope on the street (ever), and that you attend a couple of autocrosses before you even partake of any "spirited" driving in the S2000. That's just a recommendation based on my own experiences, though.

As for insurance... I can't comment... especially for Cali.

Since insurance premiums vary depending on age, sex, driving record, credit rating, coverage, deductibles, and even Zip Code, why don't you get a few quotes from different companies for your specific profile instead of wasting bandwidth asking what people with completely different profiles pay?

you could've answered one of my other questions. then your post would've been useful. =P

edit: j/p no hostility intended. and btw thanks to all who have answered. and i did try that. the internet sites don't work. they ask for things that i don't have, me being 18 and it always ends up as an error. and if i call, i don't have certain information that they require, again due to me being 18. sorry to bother you bout that.

edit again: i was looking for an idea of what other 18 year olds are paying. to get a general gist.

before the s2k, i used to have a 94 accord with the h22a-s motor. 220 hp with the lsd 5-spd. it was a fun car and pretty quick, BUT the car just felt heavy and not nimble when taking turns. the s2k is unlike any other car i have driven. sure it only makes 20 hp more than my accord BUT the extra short gearing, RWD and dropdead good looks is more than enough to seal the deal.

for insurance, i only pay 50 bucks a month. i know people at AAA and they hook me up. having a good driving record helps a lot too. also if you go to school, fax in your grades and they'll give you a good student discount. it all adds up.
