Hi-REV vs Mr Torquey
Ok...my engine is 2002 2.0 liter. Is the later 2.2 engine rev as hi as the 2.0 ?
I already bought the engine. My friend told me to take the 2.2 and get more torque. I said my car is so light (990lbs) and I don't need torque. However, I will be happy to get a hi-rev instead or torquey engine. Who is right?
This will power my 7

For a light car like the 7 you definately made the right choice in going with the 2.0 motor. You get to rev all the way to 9k rpm instead of 8k rpm on the 2.2 motor. This should give you an advantage on the track and the lesser torque curve won't matter as much since your car is so light. You are looking at hp/weight ration of supercars. That thing is going to be crazy fast

I like to turbocharged the engine and make fun of my neighbor 500hp Mustang. I think I will still beat him even the S2000 engine is aspirated. I think this is the best reliable engine. I can go far away and go home without worrying a tow truck.

It is so awesome!!!
You do things that scare you afterward. When you get back into your S it feels dog slow.
I have hit corners at speeds I would have sworn were impossible to take and have taken them with many mphs to spare.
At the Lotus get togethers the Ultralite is the top dog by far and it is always the tractable and it is all due to the engine.
The $20,000 imported engined cars can sometimes match the speed, but at a price. Not counting the high $$$ price for the engine, their cars are completely unstreetable and expensive to keep running.
A not so small thing is that the Ultralite is just enough bigger than you don't have to be gay to take a male passenger for a ride.
The Locost with a turbo Miata engine is another one to consider, but all it has going for it is speed. It is not refined. It is not versatile and it definitely isn't a car to be used off the track.
