At my last track event the Stook was hitting 199kmh (125 mph) at the end of the main straight before brakes, a quick 5-2 change and 105k (65mph) through the right hand corner. With the roof up I could hit 207kmh or 5 mph faster before braking.

That's quite a significant difference in speed but it's a hell of a lot more fun with the roof down.

A question to those who have gone >140MPH w/ the top up -
when I do >85MPH w/ top up, the resonance from the roof gets very loud. Does it just keep getting worse as speed increases? I can't imagine what it's like near 150MPH. I find it less distracting with the top down, although I haven't had this car >110MPH.

Guys,

I've done 240KMH on the odometer (that's 149 MPH) and it was still slowly accelarating. This was with a stock S2000 except for 18" OZ Superleggera's. Haven't unpacked the tonneaucover yet so it wasn't on.

Mark. My run to 130 at the track with top down was not limited by drag but by space! I'm sure, as others have posted, the car will go faster than that w/ top down.

Alan, that's what I figured.

At the Irvine event, we had a nice stretch of road that was about 2.5 miles long. A bunch of us pretty much opened it up on that road and got going pretty fast. The fastest out of our group got it up to 135. Not sure if anyone else matched that or not.

i've gotten it up to about 135 with the top down and there was plenty more that I could have gone. That was bone stock too...

I went 144mph with the top down, a passanger in the car, and with no tonneau cover. I could have gone even faster but I was in sixth gear and didn't bother to downshift for some reason. Yes, there still was room in 5th, but I would have probably been right at redline. It was about 4:30 AM on the freeway, coming back from the illegals, and I'll I had energy for was just pushing down the pedal, lol. Bullit has the video of this. I'll try and get the video back when I get a chance and post it up. The car was also stock at this time, and the airbox was off. I've always heard that the airbox causes a great loss in power, could I have gone even faster? Is this just another freak motor? hehe.

I was up to 140 mph indicated top down, no cover, going to Las Vegas in my first s2k and the car felt like it wanted to keep accelerating. I just ran into traffic, so had to back off.

Rarely drive the s2k with the top up. Normally leave it in the garage those rare times when it's raining in SoCal and drive the Jaguar.

People drive this car with the top up?

The wind gets really nasty over 130 for us tall folk, but it's bearable when your pride is on the line... 150+ is painful.

I can't seem to go faster than 80mph with the top down, and made it up to 141mph with the top up, and then it got unbearable... time to get a hard top!
