I hit a deer on my pass. side. It ran off Fender and door panel were toast, luckily the headlight was untouched, and my hood was gouged up by it's hooves. The inner fender got chewed up also. I guess a combination of her weight on the fender and heavy braking, I was at stock ride height. I went 5 years in upstate NY before I hit that doe, it broke my heart because my car was in mint condition and I had bought it brand new (Suzuka blue).
Anyways, without looking in my files, I think it was about $4k for parts and labor. My bodyshop choice turned into a nightmare, so in saying that make sure you take your S to a good bodyshop. If I had only asked my insurance agent to recommend a Pro shop I would have been better off, but they (Allstate) were not allowed to tell me where to take it they could only suggest one if I asked, and I never did.

Sorry to hear of your accident. Those deer can do some damage. BTDT (thankfully not in my S). Hope you get it all fixed up soon.

I hit deer in my wife's car last winter. Big damage and very costly. I was 1000 miles away from home as well. That was quite a trip.

I'll get pics up soon.. Invoice came to $2,400ish. Hopefully they can match the paint. If not I'm gonna bitch until they do, even if it requires a full respray. It matched before the accident and should be required to match afterward. I explained that this isn't a civic and that I and likely every other S owner is/should be this anal about it..

It's never gonna be 100% match. Normal wear tear old paint versus brand new paint....

My paint isn't old. I just resprayed the whole car 1.5yrs ago to get rid of rock chips/minor scratches. That's why I'm so concerned, as I don't want to spend another 4k to do it again.

Well, you could have done what I did and tried to dodge the deer. Although that's how I ended up totalling my first S. It's a lose/lose situation. Good luck with matching the paint! Deer are never fun to deal with.

I've been in a similar situation . Dodging always does more damage unless you happen to be on a perfectly flat and very wide surface even with the road, like a field. And that never happens. So with that said, I learned not to even flench, just keep driving and react afterward. Obviously this wouldn't be ideal at high speed, but under or ~around 50mph it didn't seem to be an issue. This is the second deer I've ever hit, and the first in this car, and hopefully the last..

I encourage deer hunters to hunt locally in southern MI rather than go up north. Local deer are bigger and more tender, as they feed on crops. Thinning the herd also lowers the number on the roads.

Got the car back today, 2+ weeks later... Paint matches perfect, but that's about the only "perfect" part of this f@#king mess. I had them install an AP2 bumper cover and aftermarket headlights, and both were half assed and had to be loosened and refitted/aligned, by me! . Also, they made me pay out of pocket for the tow hook cover and grille, which, when ordering a replacement bumper cover, should be included in the bumper price, even though they have separate part numbers . I'll be calling my claims adjuster about that, as someone owes me a couple dollars there. On top of all that, I was promised a refund for my headlights since the insurance paid them 572 dollars for one replacement lamp and I paid 300 for the aftermarkets, before they had even been paid by my insurance, and was to get the difference as well. Instead, I had to raise mortal f@#king hell just to get reimbursed for the lights, since the owner was away and the "manager" didn't know about the arrangements, even though I had the edited and noted invoice in my hand from the owner. He had the nerve to tell me that they replaced the passenger side ballast that had a melted light socket seat, which was laying in the floorboard. I told them not to worry about the ballast before they worked on it, that I had a replacement coming and would install it myself. Dude yells to his cronies and tells them to "tear" my front bumper back off to check for a new ballast that I owed them for, even though the pass. HL didn't even come on... I said f@#k that and got in the car, said they've had it long enough. Dude closes the garage door behind my car and attempts to lock it in. I candidly explained that I didn't mind backing through the door and then beating his ass afterward for being a c-sucker, and that I'd likely get his job taken tomorrow when the owner is back. He released my car and wrote me a check for the lights, and apologized. Which I'm past at this point, he deserves to be fired after that stint. Needless to say, I will never take my car back to them after this, and will advise against it to anyone else who may ever ask.

On the plus side, I did get the upgrades that I was about to spend $ on at no cost to me.

Pics coming tomorrow...
