Hit by lightening!
Considering the possible muscle damage (check your heart), I'd get a checkup if you haven't yet. Also, drinks lots of fluids as a hit like that drains you of a lot of electrolytes.
Oh yeah, and STOP HOLDING LIGHTNING RODS IN THE RAIN

holly shiznit batman!
Hey man, if I were you I wouldn't fly in an airplane! As they commonly say, you are more likely to be struck by lightening than to die in a plane crash!

glad to hear you are ok.

Svann,
The lightning went from you to the telephone. I once investigated a similar case, where the person was holding onto a water faucet.
There are protectors in the telephone line to keep lightning from harming a person on the phone. The protector block is grounded to provide a path for the lightning. The lightning went from the person to the ground via the telephone.
Moral: if you are on the phone during a lightning storm, stay away from anything that could provide a path. Better yet, get off the phone.

I'm glad to hear you are OK. Thousands of people die each year from lightning strikes, many more than tornados. I had lightning hit near me and it scared the hell out of me. And it was incredibly loud. If you want to track lightning strikes in your area, go here http://www.weather.com/outdoors/maps/natio...ng_277x187.html
