hit some frost and spun into a ditch
well, I thought it would never happen to me.....but driving home tonight on the backroads to my house, I accelerated down a straight stretch of road, hit a frosted section, and noticed the tail swinging out extremely fast. I did the rookie mistake of countersteering and hitting the brakes....and later found myself in the ditch. I got out to examine the damage, luckily, it didn't look like any damage to the sides or rear of the car. The bumper was however pushed up from the bottom and showed some damage.
It being the middle of the night and I was only about a mile from my house, I immediately called my wife. Of course we did not take it too well at first, but later told me that she was glad I was okay and that it's only a car....it can be fixed.
My wife drove out to the scene, later followed by a passer by in Dodge Ram truck....he slowed, asked if everything was ok and if I needed anything. I proceeded to ask if he happened to have a chain. He said yes, told me he knew what I was thinking, and that he would get his truck into position. Not only did he offer to help, he wanted to make sure that I knew there may be some collateral damage from pulling the car out at the angle required...and that I was ok with that.
Got the car out, hobbled it home, and assessed the damage in the garage. Looks like the bumper is gone, the radiator is slightly pushed up, and the front passenger wheel lining is gone.
I'm really thankful that I didn't hit any cars and caused injury to anyone....as well as the good Samaritan that helped me get the car out.
Now I need to find a really good repair shop in the Portland area....anyone have suggestions?

Everybody and their mom is spinning out in their S2000's. Somebody should invent some winter/cold weather specialty wheel sets. Maybe something like an M1-Abrahms tank with the tank treads and such. That'll keep you on the road, and get you over any trees and stalled motorists other obstacles. Or how about Mickey Thompsons... can you say Monster S2000...
