Default Hitting the rev limiter once in awhile

Hello all,

the search button isn't working

anyways, to continue with my question, should i be worried if i kinda hit the rev limit of the s2000 once in awhile? Sometimes (like maybe 7 times already this year or so, all in different ocassions) when i'm upshifting to 3rd I kinda hit the rev limiter unconsciously. Especially when the weather gets extremely cold, the RPMs go up faster then I ef up in shifting.

The VAFC recorded i hit 9044 and 9027 RPMs on different occasions.

car is an 03 JDM ap1 w/ 23+++kms
Spoon ECU
Custom single full exhaust
and VAFC2 (untuned)

Going from 2nd to 3rd is fine, that is what the rev limiter is there for. Now a 3rd to 2nd mechanical overrev is a different story.

I know i've read somewhere that it's totally safe and that's why they put the rev limiter there for a reason. I've read that as long as you won't go past the rev limit then it would be fine.

However i'm still wondering..
Wouldn't it cause some premature wear and tear? Or did I hit something that would cause the engine not to run its optimum performance? like valve clearances, tappets, etc?

the sound of the engine "valve floating" hurts my feelings like hell lol.

no flaming please thanks!

Nah, the engine is designed to take a bit more then that so they built in a safety buffer. You are fine.

See, now any time youre revving the piss out of your car whether its at 9K+ or 7K, you're going to be putting wear. Will your car blow up catastrophically? I doubt it if youre not "money shifting" it, but it is putting wear....but some would say (me included) that the revving the crap out of it is what the s2k is made for..

It's fine as long as you don't misshift and mechanically overrev. Every watch Japanese track vids of the S2000? They are always hitting the limiters.

This is my philosophy, too. Hitting the rev limiter won't kill ya.
