I've got DCsport header/TIR testpipe/HKS setup and the sound is awesome.

HKS had a little drone at 3k rpm. with testpipe = no more drone and even better sound.
How much is the test pipe n shoulkdnt that open up some power?

What's the noise diff? More raw n raspy?

I've seen testpipes in the group buy forum for about $100 (Berks). I picked up the t1r tp locally from A&J Racing and love it.

My butt dyno tells me that there was a slight gain in hp and tq, and the car rev's up quicker, keeps the rev's up and is a lot smoother.

The HKS on its own has a deep sound to it with a very SLIGHT drone at lower rpms. With the install of the dc header it got rid of some of the drone with little to no sound change.

With the testpipe, it got rid of basically all the drone and changed the sound a little. There is absolutely no raspiness and no ricer sound. Its changed the deep sound into more of a deep moan....lol...hard to explain..

But if you do go for the HKS i highly recommend the testpipe.

All of your questions are searchable...

100 bucks for a test pipe.

The noise difference is that your car sounds better after you put the exhaust on.

Just don't turbocharge the car...it kills the classic HKS sound.

In-car w/ turbo

Don't waste your money on a DC header as they do not produce any power gains and is possible the worst header out for the S.
Your best bet is exhaust and test pipe.

I did some reading up on the DC header and the general consensus here was it didn't provide any power gains or losses.

One of the members offered it to me at a steal of a price that i couldn't pass up. Probably didn't do much besides a decent weight savings but it does help it breathe a little easier with noticeably quicker throttle response and quicker rev's. Really happy with it though...especially for the price i paid

sorry about the thread jacking...
