Yesterday while driving around with my g/f in the DFW area... I had an interesting encounter...

We come up to the light, and we are sitting there waiting for the light to turn green. Two ladies in a Sebring convertable pull up. They roll down their window so I mute the radio because I knew questions were coming.

Them: "Is that REALLY a Honda?"
Me: "Yes it is."
Them: "Wow! What is it"
Me: "It's a S2000"
Them: "Wow! That looks REALLY nice"
Me: "Thanks, "
Them: "It's beautiful!"
Me: " Thanks"

Roll up window, radio on a little...

G/F: "No, it's not really a Honda, we just like those little badges so much we put it all over the car."

She was kidding around...

It was funny though... cause I guess people didn't know honda made exciting cars(when many of them are to me). I bet they have a different view of honda after yesterday.

People ask the funniest questions (and some stupid ones too) in the funniest ways. I guess we just hear them more b/c we have a unique car AND its a convertible. I definitely get the "THAT is a HONDA?" question alot. I once had a guy pull up in a Tahoe say, "That's the first good looking Honda I've ever seen!". being long time Honda ower, I took a little offense at first, but then realized it was just a tactless compliment, so I smiled and thanked him fro the compliment.
I have replied similar to your G/F's response once or twice tho, "Nah, its actually a Porsche, but I put Honda badges on to lower the value of the car...but its much more reliable now! "

 

If I say "Honda" and "Convertible" in the same sentence people tell me that Honda doesnt make a convertible . . .
Thats funny I just drove mine yesterday . . .
