it's a setup. they are going to put a tracking device on your car and if you ever go above the speed limit they will void your entire warranty.

No, that's not it. The earth has been invaded by aliens from another galaxy and they are assimilating our technology for their own evil use. The proof of the alien invasion is evidenced by the lower performance (inferior technology) of the rental car that they will offer when compared to your S and the artificial smile on the face of the Honda service manager when you drop your car. Imagine the torture he has in mind for your S as soon as you are out of sight. You'll probably get it back with a used Civic motor, dirty oil and remnants of bugs that have never been seen on earth left on your windshield. What an elaborate conspiracy. It's either that, or the sales manager promised that hot babe who works at the payment window a weekend in Las Vegas in "his" S and he's just trading up for the road-trip. Either way, be sure to have the car tested for biological specimens as soon as you get it back ... if you get it back. Beware

I have seen a couple guys get these letters on a Subaru forum. No one has taken them up on it to figure what the deal is.

They probably want to get samples of production cars so see how the emissions system is holding up.

Lot's of S2000's in California are now becoming eligible for smog testing. So far it's just the 00 and 01's. I'd guess they were curious.

Can you please explain where the RECALL part comes in? Your post only mentioned "emission testing" but no mention of "recall", so why did you think it was a "recall"?
