Googled the first part number (short block for NSX). https://www.acurapartswarehouse.com/...0-pr7-j11.html (not sure if this particular listing is overpriced/marked-up-price [since perhaps rare/discontinue; irdk, since I don't know NSXs] or actual retail price)

So, I guess eventually they'll have/make short blocks for the S2k too. And, hence, no more worrying about rebuilding our F-series engine (which is notoriously difficult to rebuild w/ oem reliability).

I'm so happy I found a good S2000. I was seriously thinking about restoring a 1990s-era NSX. Looks like the NSX is heading in the direction of $$$ Porsche restos.

Actually less than I thought it would be. Assembled short blocks new from the mfgr have gotten crazy over the years so $9600 for an NSX short block assembly kinda seems about on par. They can run over $6k easy from a dealer for more run of the mill, still in parts production cars.

I'd agree with you on that if it wasn't literally a bare block. It doesn't appear to come with a crank, rods or pistons if the image is correct.

hmm I will have to look again, I first looked up the same thing on my own and the picture and description was "short block assembly". I looked it up previously just from the part number a few days ago and that Honda site showed it assembled in the diagram, with pistons, rods, crank, etc. But the link he just posted does appear to just be the block... so who knows.

Oh boy, would love to have more new lower blocks in circulation for the S2000.

Same. Given the only options right now are used engines with questionable compression/leakdown without paying exorbitant prices, knowing I can buy a short block with perfect cylinders is a godsend.

For suitable shortblocks, there is now the NSC plated cylinder surface being offered by Charper. Actually better than FRM in virtually every way. Can repair even badly scored cyl walls. Can be endlessly rebuilt. Can even be recoated.

What we really need is new cranks. Those are the one thing they have to still find good used ones for these rebuilds to work.
