Default Honda Care Extented Warranty for my S2000

I purchased my 2002, Grand Prix White S2000 on Ebay (item # 1875159745) last friday. It had 2912 miles, and it originally sold on 5-31-2002 (one owner). The owner had added a Comptech stainless header (four pipes to the cat) and a Comptech stainless muffler with dual pipes to two cans. Supposedly, the exhaust system cost $3,500.00

The header and exhausts were said to have been installed at the Honda dealership. I questioned whether this modification would void the warranty, and they said since it was done at a Honda dealership, that the warranty was still good. A few days ago, I purchased a Honda Care 7y/100,000/0 deduct policy for $1,199.95.

Later, I called a service manager at another Honda dealership to see what he would say about my warranty and extended care. He said that any part of the car affected by the exhaust modification would not be honored, if the power train had trouble, no warranty would be honored.

Does anyone have any good information on this issue? Does Honda have a department to resolve this question?

Welcome to s2ki.com and thanks for becoming a Member!

Now, in regards to your concern, call your Regional Honda Customer Care department. They should be able to help you. Their number can be found in your owner's manual.

A dealer in Raleigh (Cary) by the name of Auto Park Honda does installations of Comptech Aftermarket work and they stand behind the warranty. However, it's because they do their own installations.

I believe what you received as an answer from the Honda service manager is correct. Aftermarket parts are not warrantied and if they conflict with any other OEM parts, it will void your warranty. Not sure how this would work with extended warranties.

However, consider trading off your aftermarket parts with someone's OEM parts plus some money and you should be straight.

Thank you for your thoughts and welcome. You guys do a great job. I love this car. It is a work of art, and a sophisticated marvel of engineering.

I've owned four Honda Accords (1997, 2000, 2001, 2003) with extended warranties, and I've never used the warranties. At about $800.00 each, I've felt very secure.

It appears the seller's agent over hyped the warranty. She wrote on Ebay, "you will definitely enjoy with Confidence, this is still backed up by PLENTY OF FACTORY WARRANTY!!! YES, even the exhaust is covered. It was installed by the HONDA DEALER!!!".

Approximately, how much additional horsepower does the Comptech exhaust system produce. Thanks again, for your help.

Thanks for the site information, I don't believe all that money on a stainless steel header and Comptech Sports Dual Chrome Exhaust was worth the money. I would have spent it on 17" or 18" premium rims and tires.

Many Honda dealers will sell, install, and service Comptech and other reputable aftermarket parts. Get a letter from the dealer that did the original install, and find a dealer in your area that does this work. That should solve the problem.
