As I predicted, Honda has been working on a clutchless manual transmission - 6 speed even (like BMW's SMG or Ferrari's F1 or Fiat's Selesport Transmission)... Now, when is it going to appear in the S2000? It would certainly expand the market share...

The transmission will first appear in the RD-X if it goes into production ....

i think the idea of having both hands at the wheel is good - specially for S2000.

My only concern is - how the hell are we supposed to do high rev launches with the clutch?

If it's anyhting like the BMW SMGII, you can have it do launches for you automatically.

If it can reduce shift times like the Ferrari F1 system or BMW SMG system does, it should help performance...

You can have this technology now with an add-on kit from Spoon or 5Zigen called the twin-mode clutch system. With a flick of a button you can switch between driving modes of full manual or clutchless manual. Need no wait for Honda on that one.

I've had two experiences with clutchless manuals - a 68-69 bug, and a early eighties civic -both were LOUSY.

I love a clutch - grew up with them! Autos on all my other cars tho...just lazy in those!
