Default The honda dealorship, (aka Satan), is evil

Well when i bought my S, i was only given one key. i heard a nice rumor that i had to go to honda to get spare keys made. so i gave them a call. heres the results.
1 normal key = 50$
1 honda key = 69$
now to make the keys they have to service my car. so its 80$ and hour to make a key.
1 normal key now = 130$
1 honda key now = 149$

another keyless entry is another absurd price. is all of this true? i wish i could go to home depot and get a few keys made. if i have to go to honda, ill just go and do it when my oil needs to be changed.

This is probably true. I lost the key to my Lexus once and the quote was in the triple digits. Luckily I found it before I had a new one made.

The high cost in the honda key is probably due to the immobilizer chip.

the need to reprogram the chip inside the key, that is why it is so expensive. you can have home depot cut you new keys but they will only open doors, they will not turn on the car due to the immobilizer.

Stupid suggestion but.... One key, one keyless entry, check the secret compartment. Could be in there and they don't know it.

I only got one key when I bought mine and am having keys made this week. They quoted me something like $300 for another key and two remotes, but said they would eat the cost.

Benny - what secret compartment?

Hi, Pguy!

Welcome aboard! Take time to log on to the Carolina's Forum...we have a great group of people.

As for the secret compartment (under the wind deflector)...once you open your storage compartment (between the seats)...feel under the upper lip, and press the release button and then lift up the lid...there's the hidden compartment.

Happy driving
