Default Honda paying 50% of TSB top replacement

Concord, CA Honda has offered to pay 50% of the ragtop replacement on my '05 with >60k miles. I had a rip on the passenger side rear which I repaired 12-18 months ago (just out of 36k mile warranty). My car is almost always outside and the top is pretty worn, so I figured I'd need a new top this summer anyway.

My options are spending ~$800 shipped for a (nicer?) Robbins top and installing myself versus spending ~$950 (my 50% share) and having Concord Honda install an OEM top. It's worth the $150 incremental cost to have someone do the install, so I think I'll take their offer. Concord Honda said they wouldn't give me half off on parts only, so I don't have the option of getting a ~$400 OEM top and installing it myself (unless I take my claim to another dealer).

Any thoughts?

I got the same deal... I would fight till you get the full top covered. If they don't budge go with the 50% offer and call it a day.

They covered 65% of myn, pretty sure they upped the price tho so they would have to pay less.

Honda was replacing the seals on the del Sol Targa tops (93-94 model) all the way to 1998 as I remember. It was also a TSB. Those seals ran like $500+

While that's a great idea, tops wear over time, even if everything is sanded down, etc.
