So my honda connection tells me that what he's hearing is an improved/updated s2000 car in the acura line after the CR-Z in the honda line is launched.

Details are really iffy but he tells me they dropped the S because of fuel standards in the US. They want to be the 'greenest' line up. Also a $35k honda is a tough sell under the honda badge.

Rumor has it we'll see a similar car to the S under the acura badge, updated/tweaked and likely called something else.

Well that's the rumor.

 

if anything it is its own car. s2000's are done and final. lets just hope your rumor is a 2 seater, rear wheel drive and not be underpowered.

 

We'll see how it all plays out. He told me about the CR-Z, but of course without the name prior to it being public knowledge.

 

Seems like they dumped too many R&D dollars into it to just pitch it forever. If/when the economy returns to normal levels we'll probably see some better things happening.

 

Back in 2005, I thought that Acura would come out with a truck like the Ridgeline in a few years. I thought it would be more luxury and have more power. Nope, the MDX got the 3.7 with 300 hp. But the Ridgeline stayed the same until 09, when it got 5hp increase and 1 inch bigger wheels, wow I am under whelmed.

I hope Acura does come out with something that is comparable to the s2000 or the NSX.

This has been covered many times. This rumor is as old as the S2000 itself. Honda's CEO has spoken about the future products and the S2000 and/or replacement is nowhere in their sights.
