Default Honda S2k or lotus?

Hi all!

This is my first posting. Needing some advice here folks. Looking of getting a nice wee sporty number as a second car. Want to buy something that a)looks good (well I am a woman after all), b)allows for wind blowing through my hair and c) (very important) it runs like a demon with fire up its ass.

So, after a few test drives (Porshe Boxter= crap!, vx220T= it's a Vauxhall! and a TVR =ok so just for fun!) I have narrowed it down to either the Honda S2000 or a Lotus. So thoughts please!

Like the tweaks on the 06 model. Had a test drive and doesn't roll to buggery. Quite elegant yet masculine too when on the road. Top Gear gave it the thumbs up (although still would rather go for a bugatti vehroon but then who wouldn't) and most reviews are very favourable. But I want the warts and all stories.

P.s. Anyone else think most sales guys have the most awful way with customers?(esp those I've met at Honda). They either have a pole up their own arse or because I (not boasting now here folks!) have cash but am under 30 they look at me as if I am daft? Plus because I'm female I obviously won't understand a single thing about cars! ARGHHHHH!

I know nothing about the lotus but i drive by two guys that have one all the time. One in red and one in black. They look pretty nice but they don't do anything for me... too small even for me! Expect a biased opinion from the S2k forum Not sure what the lotus can do, but IMO the S looks 100x better.

The S2000 would be more practical but if this just a 2nd car for fun i would have to look at the Lotus very hard.

Unless you're planning on tracking the car, get the S2000. The Lotus is way too rough of a car to drive around town. The S2000 is easier to live with though, great at tracking and great for driving around town. Now, if all you want is a car to go around the track, get the Lotus, much better car for tracking.

I don't think the Exige is a good recommendation as the original poster is looking for "wind blowing through my hair". I know the hardtop on the Exige is removable, but it's a pain compared to the soft top. Otherwise, the performance is nearly identical between the Elise and Exige, so if you're a convertible lover, the loss doesn't offset any gain.

By the way, that's not an Exige that you posted photos of. That's a one-off sports racer with a Buick engine made for some Malaysian dude.

The Elise is a big go-cart. The S2000 is a small car. It just depends what you want As a 2nd car I would get the Elise; as a primary car, definately the S2000.

I faced this decision a few months ago...now being younge (under 30) and walking into a honda dealership was no issue...however when i walked into lexus and lotus dealerships i was blown off...but anyways to my opinion...if this is truly a second car and would only be used sparingly for spirited drive, track days, or some local cruising i would take the lotus any day...however if you were in the situation i was in where i used my second car a lot (so much i ended up getting rid of the primary car) i would suggest the s2000...the lotus his a bumpy ride on uneven roads and is tough to get in and out...also if there is a passenger you will be rubbing shoulders with them...
