The JDM Odyssey (which is the real Odyssey) is not the same car as the USDM variant. Also there is no Element outside of US. I doubt this recall affects S2000s.

Lulz!

I don't mind VSA one bit, mostly cause I dont drive my car like an asshole on the street. I do turn it of for Auto-X events, and I haven't yet been to a track event, but I'm sure I'd probably turn it off there as well. The few times I have driven relatively hard on the street (with bad rear tires, surprise surprise) VSA has kicked in earlier than I think is needed, but thats what it is there for so I don't complain about it. Also... I love having it in inclement weather!

We hear the VSA-haters on here every once in a while. I'm willing to bet a decent amount that a good chunk of that group have never tracked their car. I think that warrants them a big pile of STFU about how VSA is for chumps.
Why would you say that? I would imagine the ones that find it really intrusive are the ones that are tracking and autoxing their car. I track and autox quite a bit and I find the car just won't turn with it on. It's the drivers that don't know a race line from the line in their ass that probably don't even know when it comes on.

I can't imagine why one would leave it on at the track or during an autox. It does kill the car in those situations, but that's why the system isn't a big deal since it can be fully turned off. If this was Ferrari's system where you can set it to "race" or whatever to allow you to be a bit more liberal with the car, different story. As it sits, it's tuned as a street safety net, not a track-level traction control system.

This reminds me of when I was picking up my newly purchased S a little over 2 years ago. After all the paperwork, my dealer takes me outside and starts explaining all the little buttons and latches on the car(giving me the new owner walkthrough) before handing me the keys. Then hands me the keys and I start the car up to warm her up. He locates and points to the VSA button and says...

"You see this button, never press this button".
I go... "like this?" And hold the button until the VSA triangle lights up on the dash.
"Is this your first rwd car?"
I reply..."No, I have a Silverado as a daily"
He replies..."Well, be careful around corners...This ain't no Silverado".
I reply..."You're right, this handles way better!!!"
Put my paperwork in the passenger seat and drive off.

Thanks for that input - I'm wondering if any 06+ S2k owners have experiences similar behavior.

I dunno, but I'm not a fan of this VSA. The concept yes, but on such a hard core sports car you would think it would allow for SOME wheelspin and oversteering.

This system is more aggressive than the one on my mom's volvo station wagon
don't know about the 07 but the programming shouldn't be different than the 06 and i find the vsa very unobtrusive even at 8/10th driving as long as your smooth with the car. i've driven other sporty cars whose vsa programming isn't as forgiving as the S.

this recal does not! what so ever affect any other honda but 2007-2008 odyssey's and elements. does not apply to s2000 any year. newer crv's, s2k's, accords, ridgeline's all have vsa and they are not affected. it is just those morons on the news and autoblog.com.that have no idea what they are talking about. i work for a honda dealership and we havent even really heard anything about this yet . just about the recall which is not totally in effect yet. applies only hondas made in by american honda. for some reason. all the hondas with a japan vin # have way less recals than the american made hondas. also honda hasn't even come out with a svc bullten fix for this problem and wont be out till april. this recall is for some air getting into the system and causing the brake pedal to become spongy. but will still be able to stop. recall if for brake pedal being spongy/soft, not for brake system failing and not being able to stop the car.

i just think those people on the internet and news should do their homework before posting on the news about some recall that honda is still in the process of looking into.
long story short. if you have and s2k with vsa. don't worry. all s2ks are japan made anyway and will not be affected by this recall according to american honda.

Ah, but you forget the ignorant uneducated demographic who is pissed at whatever new technology that comes along partially eliminating some of the mechanical links in our cars, tainting the S2000...
