Was looking at replacing my daily drive, 1997 Grand Prix, with the Acura RSX Type-S. When checking out the specs saw that it comes with a 7 speaker Bose audio system with a RichBass Sub mounted in the spare tire rim. Handa has posted that Honda may not continue with the development of the sub for the S2000.
I've already done testing on the Honda sub - there are better choices. If they don't commit soon, I'll put together an easy to install package with a better powered sub.
:Lucid: i think if you put together a sub that would fit anywhere, footwell, arm rest, secret compartment so on, i think you would see a huge ammount of interest. The tool well is a nice mount but i think it's too far away from the driver and would produce too many rattles.
For those of us who are looking for a simple install, resulting in a bit more bass (I know this is a seriously non-optimum solution), the 'spare wheel sub' looks a good route to me
I look forward to seeing what you come up with Lucid.
I heard the Richbass sub was crap, but I havent heard it. Go to the RSX site and surf the classifieds for a used one.
I'd just wait for Lucid to come out with something. The Honda one is a pipe dream. I personally couldnt wait anymore and got a JL Audio Microsub, which is awesome.
I'll take a picture of mine later. What I did was used the supplied bracket and mounted it downfiring in the trunk well to the board that sits over the tools. It is downfiring on a slight diagonal mounted as close to the back part of the well toward the seats. The sub takes a little less than half the space on the board, and since I mounted it to downfire, I'm not a rattletrap.
Definately a good investment and it can be easily removed for track events.
