Default hood trouble

I was just wondering if anyone has trouble closing the hood of their S2000. It seems that I have to slam the hood pretty hard to close it. Is it supposed to be like that???

dannykim,

Every new owner goes through the same thing. After a little bit of time, you will learn just how high to hold the hood before you drop it to close it. Somewhere around 1' to 2'. It's just part of owning an S2000.

What boiler said. The S2000 hood is a "dropper" NOT a "slammer".

Drop from about 3 feet, it should close under it's own weight.

You can turn the two rubber bumpers under the hood by hand. Give them a few turns to compress the rubber a bit and you should be all set.

Most of the time you do not need to adjust the rubber bumpers, just drop the hood from a height that works.

Yep, the first thing the dealer showed me was to just let go of the hood at the before mentioned 2-3 feet and she slams just fine.

I usually find that if I hold the hood about chest high and let go it doesn't catch. But if I toss it up a few inches it does. Go figure. It takes some experimentation before you get the formula that works. The trouble is other people that haven't got a clue and press it down by force
