Default Horn Replacement

I am tired of the wimpy '01 horn and want to change it out with something more robust sounding. However, I am not looking to go to air horns or do any additional wiring. Other threads on the forum have stated that Hella Supertones are good alternatives but I think they are ugly looking behind the grill. Does anyone else have a recommendation for a horn that isn't air and will fit in the stock mounting location?

My '04 horn is plenty manly. I'm assuming it is OEM...

The '04 model year actually has two horns where as the '01 model year only has one. I am wondering what it would sound like with only the '04 high tone horn sounding. That would be an easy change out.

There are the Piaa Sports 400/500hz or 500/600hz, the AP2 horns and the Italian sounding ones from griotsgarage.com.

Ive been looking at horns too and am deciding between the Piaa Sport 400/500hz or the stock AP2 horns . The Piaa are 115 decibels.

Anyone know how loud the AP2 horns are?

You could paint the red part of the hellas black.

Get a horn from a Ford vehicle. They fit and are MUCH louder than stock Honda horns from the 90's era.

Although I'm a big fan of compressor driven air horns. I installed a pair in my S2K, horns mounted out of sight behind the bumper cover but angle down out the mouth onto the roadway and are about 4X as loud as stock. Many an SUV who tried to come over and side swipe me have been blasted right back into their own lane by sound blasts!

I feel exactly like the OP. Does anyone have model numbers for the Hella Supertones? Any other advice on other options? I am happy to paint the horn before installation if needed. I just want a relatively simple swap out that will allow me to be heard.

I actually put the horns (High/Low Tones) from the new accord on mine. Sounds so much better!
